Petals and Fleurs have always been a way of expressing our emotions…for every heartfelt occasion! Roses, Peonies, Tulips and Orchids reign supreme! Tiger Lilies, Peach Blossoms, Anthuriums, Ranunculus, Primroses and Violets are all loved as well! Who does not love a flower? Each petal reveals the ultimate in color and nature’s beauty! They are pure joy!! And of course, they can be enjoyed, delicately bottled as scent.

There is a long association and history of equating accomplished, beautiful Actors with Beauty firms…from Catherine Deneuve, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard for Chanel; Isabella Rossellini and Juliette Binoche for Lancôme…. these are only a few of my favorites.
Dior recently stated “Natalie Portman, as beautiful and confident as ever, incarnates the Miss Dior philosophy: “Love is a bouquet”.
Flowers are LOVE to be enjoyed in every room of your home…. worn in your hair or pinned on a favorite ensemble or wrist, carried for very special occasions!! Quite romantic!
Whether you are enjoying a single bloom, a full bouquet or something in between, Vases are beautiful vessels to hold such beauty – glass, crystal, ceramic, storeware and porcelain. Art!!
Sometimes, it is fun to use the same flower in each! Many are fragrant like the Lily or Rose – it is helpful remembering this for the powder room….yet not so wonderful to compete on the dining table with food!
The Photographer Robert Mapplethorpe (1946–1989) did extraordinary images - of the wonder of flowers too … and “forever transformed the way we perceive a classic and familiar subject.”
Adoring art books as I do, I am sharing my passion for Irving Penn: Flowers. It is especially treasured, as it was a gift to my dear Mother, who taught me and all of my sisters to LOVE flowers! Books are lovely in every room…and quite collectible! Objet d’art!!

Many vases are sulptural works of art in their own right, as Vietri’s Moon Vase in gold leaf! They are wonderful to give and receive in all sizes, shapes and colors. They can be simple vessels at a place setting, on a nightstand, grouped as centerpieces – all beautiful!

Charming, collectible vases can also be treasures that hold memories of travel, countries and friends long missed. Little pieces of our lives!
Till next week…enjoy a few hearts and flowers in anticipation of our special day to come.
