Happy Friday, gang! We are kicking off summer with an amazing Skinny Margarita Recipe that goes perfectly with a refreshing shrimp Aquachile recipe. One of my favorite cocktails is a traditional margarita. I have to say that a skinny margarita packs so much more fresh fruit flavor into this classic cocktail that I may never return to the traditional recipe! Kelly is here, and we are sharing fresh summer outfits. Oscar and Ollie are here, per usual, so let’s kick off the weekend!ย

Skinny Margarita Recipe
Easy Skinny Margarita Recipe
Skinny Margaritas are the perfect way to enjoy the flavors of the traditional margarita without all the sugar. This is my favorite way to enjoy a margarita, and I know that once you try it you’ll never want to go back to the triple sec version! Swapping out triple sec or Cointreau in favor of orange juice gives this margarita a citrus flavor with natural fruit sugar and a lower ABV.ย
What is a Skinny Margarita
A skinny margarita simply has less sugar. Instead of the uber-sweet triple sec, typically in a margarita, we use orange juice and a little agave nectar for sweetness. Fresh, fruity, and better for you! Fresh orange juice is a game-changing ingredient: it enhances the fresh citrus fruit flavor and adds natural sweetness. Use tangerines for sweeter juice, or make your DIY Skinny Margarita by swapping the orange juice for pineapple juice to give your skinny margarita a tropical twist. Using fresh ingredients and fruit juices makes this a fresh margarita with natural fruit flavor. Don’t forget to use fresh squeezed lime juice!
Skinny Margarita Ingredients, How to make a Skinny Margarita
Kosher Salt or Coarsely Ground Sea Salt
4 oz. ( ยฝ cup) silver tequila
3 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
2 oz. Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
2 tsp. Light Agave Nectar
2 Lime Wedges or rounds, for garnish
Step 1:
Pour a layer of salt onto a small plate. Slice off a small piece of lime and run the wet edge of the slice along half of the rim of your glass. Dip the top of the glass into the salt at a 45-degree angle and roll it from side to side to catch the salt.
Step 2:ย
Add ice cubes to your margarita glass and set it aside.
Step 3:ย
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the tequila, freshly squeezed lime and orange juice and agave nectar. Put on the lid and shake for 30 seconds. Strain the liquid into your glass.ย
Step 4:ย
Garnish with a slice of lime.
We are big fans of margaritas at the Djalali house. In fact, you can check out another Fridays with Oscar post when we made traditional margaritas with Tacos and Margaritas. In that post, I added guava juice for a wonderfully fruity margarita.ย
Linen Dress
When the temps get hot, the hot slip into a comfy linen dress! Honestly, I live in linen all summer long (cotton, too!) since it is a breathable fabric that just happens to look chic. It’s how I beat the heat in style. And I love a linen dress that doesn’t touch me anywhere, like this white linen dress with pockets from Banana Republic. Add a pair of comfy black espadrilles, and this outfit is one and done. That’s the beauty of dresses, there’s not a lot of brainstorming that goes into your outfit.

I’m also a big fan of J.Crew linen dresses, their linen drawstring pants, and their linen shorts. And I loved this pink linen top so much I had to go back and purchase it in black… Okay, give me all the linen all summer long!

Cornelia Shirt
My favorite thing about matching separates is mixing and matching! A few weeks ago I wore this Cornelia Shirt from J.McLaughlin with the matching pants as a set, and today I am pairing the top with The City Short from Ann Taylor. ย

Shrimp Aguachile
Shrimp Aguachile is like ceviche in which we use the acid in lime juice to cook the shrimp. This makes for a fresh and light dish that is served cold. It’s refreshing and tangy the pureed cucumber marinade adds to the refreshing flavor, so perfect for a hot day!

How to Look Expensive, Classy, and Chic
Hello, Oscar! (And Ollie!) Love your white linen dress, Beth!
Happy Friday!
Happy Weekend, Carolina Girl!
I tried to leave a comment on yesterday’s blog this afternoon and the system would not let me. You always look so classy, and I strive to be like you, though I do not have your height. I have the white dress you show wearing and just ordered the black dress. Wil be able to wear it many times to many functions. I want to get a stand up steamer, but have not pulled the trigger on it yet. Any day now. I always enjoy Fridays with Oscar, Ollie and Kelly. Enjoy seeing her recipes though I don’t always try them. I am on a restricted diet and cannot eat some things and
do not do the cocktails. Enjoy the post so much though. Have a good weekend.
I don’t know why we’re having glitches with comments, but we’re in the process of creating a new and improved website that will eliminate these issues!
Thanks so much for giving it the old college try! We always love to hear from you!
