Lavender Gin Fizz – Floral & Botanical 🍸

There’s something about a lavender cocktail that just feels like spring in a glass. This one is floral without being perfumey, light without being boring, and absolutely gorgeous in a coupe. We’re using Hendrick’s Flora Adora here — it’s a limited release from Hendrick’s that leans into floral botanicals, which makes it a dream for this kind of cocktail.
A few dashes of Fee Brothers Lavender Water bring the lavender flavor without overdoing it, and the Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic adds a subtle sweetness and effervescence that ties everything together. It’s elegant, it’s easy, and it looks like it came from a cocktail bar.

✨Beth’s Tips:
- A little lavender water goes a long way — start with a few dashes and taste before adding more. You want floral, not soapy.
- The Flora Adora is worth seeking out for this cocktail, but if you can’t find it, regular Hendrick’s works beautifully too. The cucumber and rose notes still play nicely with the lavender.
- The elderflower tonic is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here — it adds sweetness and complexity, so don’t swap it for regular tonic if you can help it.
- Want to make this a mocktail? Skip the gin, double the lemon juice, and top with elderflower tonic over ice. Still lovely.
FAQS – Lavender Gin Fizz
You can, but Hendrick’s Flora Adora is really special here — its floral botanicals are what make this cocktail feel like a garden in a glass. Regular Hendrick’s is your next best bet. A London Dry like Tanqueray will work but will taste more juniper-forward and less delicate.
Fee Brothers Lavender Water is a non-alcoholic flavoring made from distilled lavender. It’s concentrated, so a few dashes are all you need. You can find it online or at well-stocked liquor stores. It’s a great bottle to keep around for spring and summer cocktails.
Absolutely — steep 2 tablespoons of dried culinary lavender in 1 cup of hot simple syrup for 15–20 minutes, then strain. Use about ½ oz per cocktail and skip the plain simple syrup and lavender water.
Yes! Combine the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and lavender water in a pitcher and refrigerate. When ready to serve, pour into coupes and top each with elderflower tonic. Hold the tonic until the last minute so you keep those bubbles.
Light, herby dishes are perfect — like our Lemon Herb Orzo! It also pairs well with goat cheese appetizers, spring salads, grilled shrimp, or a cheese board with fresh fruit.

Lemon Herb Orzo – Light & Herby 🍋

This orzo is one of those dishes that makes you wonder why you don’t make it all the time. It’s bright, herby, and fresh — the kind of side that quietly steals the show. Cooked in broth for extra flavor, then tossed with lemon zest, a mix of fresh herbs, juicy cherry tomatoes, and salty feta, it’s simple but hits every note. Serve it warm alongside something like our recent Creamy Garlic Butter Shrimp for a full dinner, or let it cool to room temperature and serve it as a salad — it’s gorgeous either way.
FAQS – Lemon Herb Orzo
Cooking in broth instead of water gives the orzo a savory depth of flavor that water just can’t match. It’s a small swap that makes a big difference — the orzo absorbs all that flavor as it cooks.
Sure! Couscous, ditalini, or even small shells would work here. Just follow the package directions for whatever you use and adjust the broth amount accordingly.
A mix is the way to go — we love parsley, dill, basil, and a little mint. But honestly, use what you have. Even just parsley and dill together is beautiful. The key is using them fresh, not dried.
Yes! It holds well in the fridge for up to 2 days. If serving cold or at room temp, just give it a toss and add a little extra olive oil and lemon juice before serving — orzo tends to absorb liquid as it sits.
Add the feta after the orzo has cooled slightly — if it’s too hot, the feta melts into the pasta rather than staying in those nice salty crumbles. A little patience goes a long way here.
Definitely — grilled chicken, shrimp, or even crispy chickpeas would all be great. Or do what we’d do and serve it alongside last week’s Creamy Garlic Butter Shrimp for a complete dinner.

Oscar & Ollie 🐾
Ollie has claimed her spot next to her water fountain and food bowl, supervising dinner prep with the quiet intensity of a head chef who doesn’t actually cook but has very strong opinions. She watched Kelly crumble every last bit of feta into that orzo and didn’t blink once. Quality control at its finest.

And we’re sharing one of our favorite photos of Oscar today — soaking up the afternoon sun in the garden, ears perked, mouth open in that happy, easy way he had. Spring always felt like his season. The longer days, the warm light, the yard coming back to life — he loved all of it. We miss that sweet boy, but moments like this one remind us how much joy he brought to every single day. 🐾
What We’re Wearing ☀️
Beth’s Outfit
This cardigan set, from Boden, has been calling my name since I first spotted it, and today felt like the perfect day to break it out. The Embellished Knit Cardigan and matching Embellished Knit Tee have the most beautiful floral beading along the neckline and edges — it’s the kind of detail that makes a simple outfit feel really special without trying too hard.

I paired it with my Darted Barrel Leg Jeans, which have become one of my favorite silhouettes this season, and finished the look with Leopard Block Heels for a little fun. It’s a spring outfit that still has some warmth to it — because let’s be honest, late February can go either way.

Kelly’s Outfit
For this beautiful sunny day in the mid-60s, I went spring-forward with a Cashmere Shrunken Tee Shirt in sage green (this color is no longer available, but J.Crew has many other colors), and it’s the perfect lightweight knit for this time of year — not too heavy, not too thin. I am always happy when the weather turns spring-like, and I can dip into my collection of cashmere tees!

I paired it with these High Rise Print Barrel Jeans, from Gap Factory, in a green floral pattern that is really fun to wear. The barrel leg is such an easy silhouette, and the tonal green print keeps it feeling modern and fresh rather than too busy. I finished the look with my Day Glove Ballet Flats in black and a Covered Buckle Leather Belt to pull it all together.
