Red, White & Ready for the Fourth

Happy Friday, Gang! Independence Day has always been one of my favorite holidays—filled with family, fireworks, and festive food. But this year looks a little different. With a brand new grandbaby in the family, we’re all embracing a quieter Fourth. Instead of heading out to the Georgia Club for the festivities, we’re keeping things simple with a small gathering, easy recipes, and just enough red, white, and blue to make it feel special. That’s the beauty of traditions—they evolve with us. So whether you’re going all out or keeping it low-key, this week’s Fridays with Oscar is full of relaxed Fourth of July style, fresh seasonal flavors, and just the right amount of sparkle.

Beth’s Fourth of July Style

When it comes to Fourth of July style, I love leaning into classic pieces that feel just a little festive. These Wexford Italian Performance Linen Pants are polished yet breathable, perfect for a summer gathering. I paired them with the Frank & Eileen Charlotte Perfect Polo and added a playful Americana twist with a red and blue striped belt. Gianni Bini Brody Leather Slide Sandals finish the look with comfort and style. Whether you’re hosting or headed to a backyard BBQ, this outfit is patriotic without being too on-the-nose.

Kelly’s Fourth of July Style

This combo felt fun and easy for a Fourth of July celebration. I started with the Banana Republic Factory Pleated Mini Skort, which feels put-together but still playful. I featured this skort yesterday as part of a matching set from Banana Republic Factory. Check it out here: Easy Breezy Matching Separates. Then I went with a Striped Tee for that classic nautical touch.

Slip on Navy Striped Espadrilles for a comfy nod to summer style. It’s a look that works just as well for parades and picnics as it does for a festive dinner under the stars. I know many of you are not big fans of lace-up espadrille styles, so I found a slip-on pair from Soludos that are a perfect alternative.

Fourth of July Style – The Recipes

Sparkling Cherry Limeade

For a Fourth of July cocktail that’s just as refreshing as it is festive, you can’t go wrong with a Sparkling Cherry Limeade. The bright cherry juice and fresh lime give it that signature sweet-tart balance, and it’s easy to make with or without vodka, depending on your crowd. Bonus points for rimming your glasses in sugar for an extra celebratory touch!

Berry Caprese Salad

This patriotic twist on a Caprese salad is as beautiful as it is delicious. Fresh strawberries and blueberries mix with mozzarella pearls and fragrant basil for a refreshing take on the classic. A drizzle of balsamic glaze ties it all together—and it looks stunning served on a white platter. Light, flavorful, and totally Fourth-worthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I make the Sparkling Cherry Limeade without alcohol?

A. Absolutely! Just skip the vodka and add a bit more soda water or lemon-lime soda for a mocktail that’s just as festive and refreshing.

Q. Can I prep the Berry Caprese Salad ahead of time?

A. Yes—assemble the fruit, mozzarella, and basil up to a few hours in advance. Wait to drizzle the balsamic glaze until just before serving to keep everything fresh.

Q. What kind of cherries should I use for the cocktail?

A. Tart cherry juice works best for flavor, but you can also garnish with fresh sweet cherries or maraschino cherries for a colorful finishing touch.

Cheers to Fourth of July Style!

Even though this Fourth of July doesn’t look quite like years past, it’s a beautiful reminder that celebrating doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful. Whether you’re gathering with a full house or sharing a quiet moment with loved ones, a simple outfit, a seasonal salad, and a sparkling sip go a long way. However you’re spending the holiday, I hope it’s filled with joy, gratitude, and a little extra red, white, and blue. Oscar, Ollie, Kelly, and I wish you a beautiful weekend!
