Happy Friday, gang! Mother’s Day is one of those occasions that deserves a little extra — and this week on Fridays with Oscar, we are delivering exactly that. We’re kicking off Mother’s Day week with a Blackberry French Gimlet that is honestly one of the most beautiful cocktails we’ve ever put on this blog, paired with Asparagus and Prosciutto Bundles that look like something from a catering menu but come together with almost no effort at all. Together, they make the most elegant little happy hour appetizer spread — whether you’re celebrating Mom on Sunday or simply giving yourself a very well-deserved Friday treat.
The gimlet gets its deep jewel-toned color from fresh muddled blackberries and Crème de Mûre, a classic French blackberry liqueur, and a splash of St-Germain elderflower liqueur gives it that unmistakably romantic, floral finish. Shaken with Hendrick’s gin and fresh lime juice and served up in a coupe, it’s sophisticated, stunning, and absolutely delicious. And the asparagus bundles — wrapped in prosciutto, glazed with honey and Dijon, and roasted until the edges crisp up — are the perfect savory counterpart. A finish of shaved Parmesan, lemon zest, and flaky salt takes them right over the top.
This one’s for the moms, the friends, and everyone who deserves a beautiful Friday. 🌸

🍸 Blackberry French Gimlet
Shop Beth’s Home Bar
This cocktail is a showstopper — deep berry pink, perfectly balanced between floral and tart, and elegant enough for the most special of occasions. The Crème de Mûre brings rich blackberry depth and that gorgeous color, St-Germain adds a whisper of elderflower romance, and Hendrick’s gin ties it all together with its signature botanical character. Fresh muddled blackberries and lime juice keep it bright and lively. Served up in a coupe, it’s simply beautiful.

FAQS – Blackberry French Gimlet
Crème de Mûre is a French blackberry liqueur — rich, deeply colored, and beautifully sweet-tart. It’s the classic ingredient in a Bramble cocktail and adds gorgeous color and real blackberry flavor to any drink. Look for it at well-stocked liquor stores or specialty bottle shops.
St-Germain is an elderflower liqueur with a delicate floral sweetness — lychee, pear, and fresh spring blossoms. It’s one of those ingredients that adds something unmistakable and lovely without overpowering a cocktail. It pairs beautifully with gin and berry flavors.
You can muddle the blackberries and combine the gin, Crème de Mûre, St-Germain, and lime juice in a pitcher ahead of time and refrigerate. Shake individual portions over ice and strain into glasses when you’re ready to serve — it takes less than a minute per cocktail.
Chambord (a French black raspberry liqueur) is the closest and most widely available substitute — it will give you a similar deep color and berry flavor with a slightly different profile. A homemade blackberry simple syrup would also work in a pinch. We used Creme de Cassis, which is a black currant liqueur. The flavor profile and color is very similar to blackberry liqueur.
Absolutely! Muddle fresh blackberries with a splash of blackberry juice or Seedlip Spice, add elderflower cordial in place of the St-Germain, and top with sparkling water and fresh lime juice. It’s beautiful and just as elegant.

🥗 Asparagus and Prosciutto Bundles
These little bundles are exactly the kind of appetizer that makes guests think you worked much harder than you did. Medium asparagus spears are bundled in prosciutto, brushed with a honey Dijon glaze, and roasted until the prosciutto is gloriously crispy and the asparagus is tender and caramelized at the edges. A finish of shaved Parmesan, fresh lemon zest, and flaky sea salt makes them completely irresistible. They’re elegant, they’re easy, and they disappear within minutes every single time.
FAQS – Asparagus and Prosciutto Bundles
Medium asparagus is ideal — thick enough to hold up to the roasting time without getting too soft, but not so thick that they take longer to cook than the prosciutto. If you can only find thin spears, reduce the roasting time by a few minutes and keep an eye on them.
Tuck the end of the prosciutto slice securely under the bundle when you wrap it, and place the bundles seam-side down on the baking sheet. The heat of the oven sets the prosciutto quickly so it stays in place. No toothpicks needed.
Yes! Assemble the bundles and brush with the glaze up to several hours ahead, then cover and refrigerate. When you’re ready to serve, bring them to room temperature for about 15 minutes before roasting. They’re best served warm, right from the oven.
Absolutely — they’re wonderful on the grill. Cook over medium-high heat for about 8–10 minutes, turning once, until the prosciutto is crispy and the asparagus has some char. Just watch them closely as grill heat varies.
These bundles pair beautifully with a cheese board, a light spring salad, or alongside a main of roasted salmon or chicken. And of course — they’re perfect with a Blackberry French Gimlet in hand.

Ollie has taken up residence at the dining room table — and not in a subtle way. There she was, planted squarely in the center of the table with the regal bearing of someone who owns the place and knows it. Green eyes wide open, tail draped just so over the edge, looking directly into the camera as if to say she had a few notes on how the shoot was going. She did not share the notes. We assume they were extensive.

And for our Oscar moment this week, we’re sharing this beautiful summer photo from 2023 — Beth and Oscar strolling the garden path together, roses blooming on every side, and Oscar sitting tall with that big, happy grin that could absolutely make your whole day. He loved that garden, and he loved his walks with Beth more than just about anything. We are so grateful for every single one of those moments. He is missed every Friday and every day in between. 🐾
Casual Mother’s Day Style
Beth’s Look
There is nothing quite like a linen shirtdress on a warm spring day — and this Talbots style is exactly why. The chambray blue is fresh and cheerful, the relaxed pleated empire waist gives it just enough shape without feeling fussy, and the midi length feels effortlessly elegant on the porch.

I kept the accessories simple and let the dress do the work — a beaded necklace with a pop of navy and gold, gold earrings, and a stack of bracelets. The woven leather sandals are the perfect finishing touch: casual, summery, and so comfortable. This is the kind of dress I’ll be reaching for all season long.

Kelly’s Look
Even though the temps have been pretty cool this spring, it’s time for linen! This navy European linen shirtdress from Quince is something I purchased last year and wore to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It doesn’t come in petites, so the length is slightly longer, but overall it fits like a dream! The notched collar and button front give it a slightly menswear-inspired feel that I love, and the tie waist is what really makes it — it cinches beautifully without being restrictive.

The Pauleena espadrille platform slide sandals are the kind of shoe that adds just enough height to make a midi dress feel perfectly proportioned. Navy and brown is such an underrated combination, and it’s perfect for spring and summer.
