summer is winding down, so this week we are revisiting your favorite fridays with oscar from this summer. for us at style a certain age, fridays have always been about keeping it casual, being at home, cooking, and imbibing with family. every friday, i welcome you to my home; we share a recipe, enjoy a cocktail; oscar and ollie share their antics…and by your responses, i know you enjoy fridays with oscar as much as we do. thank you so much for your continued support and readership; we wouldn’t be here without you! so sit back and enjoy as we revisit the best of summer | fridays with oscar.
do i have a fun fridays with oscar today! and a very special guest star, lisa from the Silver Stylist. swing by her site and say hello! lisa is also on Instagram and Facebook. yes, it’s friday time to kick up our heels and relax. what better way to do that than sharing a cocktail and a ladies’ lunch with one of your besties? lisa and i have been gal pals since i moved to Georgia five years ago! she’s a silver hair sister, blogging buddy, and truly one of my dearest friends that i love to spend time with, whether chatting on the phone, texting, or in person. the commute from door to door is forty-five minutes, so we have to plan our get-togethers ahead of time. but we try our best to squeeze in a monthly lunch, whether in Athens, Atlanta, or somewhere in-between.

is there a better month of the year than June? it marks the halfway point of the year and brings with it the first blush of summer. flowers begin to bloom, and the weather is near perfection as the sultry temps haven’t set in. there’s Flag Day and Father’s Day along with graduations to attend and weddings! and this year, we get to take part in all of the festivities. but June is also the month we head back outside to enjoy all of the sunshine and blue skies it offers. so whether you’re headed to a park or your own backyard. today, i share what to pack for a summer picnic. ‘cuz there’s nothing better than a party on the road.

the weekend has arrived! let the festivities begin. a dear friend from my san francisco days is stopping by this weekend with a friend which means the house gets a thorough once over. fresh flowers, clean linens, and stocking the fridge are priorities. healthy snacks too. it’s important to have the right choices on hand, so we don’t make the wrong choice. quality counts, whether it’s our clothes or what we eat. so i whipped up a batch of healthy homemade granola to have on hand for breakfast or a snack. it’s a keeper! and i love to start my day with a cup of coffee. café americano is my favorite! so that’s what’s on deck this week for fridays with oscar. come join us. oscar’s buddy pax stopped by this week, so there was lots of romping and tussling. it was hard to wrangle oscar for his weekly gig! never a dull moment at the djalali house.

today’s menu has summer written all over it. a delicious chicken cobb salad and a refreshing raspberry lime mocktail. that’s right! many of you request mocktails in addition to cocktails. you asked, and we deliver. since time is barreling through august 2021 like there’s no tomorrow, i’m soaking up all things summer. summer outfits, summer salads, summer tees, summer sandals, and soaking in all of that Vitamin D. with sunscreen applied liberally. have you noticed the days are already shorter? when oscar and i mosey out the door for our evening walk, i’m reminded that summer days are fleeting. so let’s make hay while the sun still shines.
on fridays, it’s all about casual chic. since i love a graphic tee and chambray, all i needed to do was combine the two. add a pair of Birkenstock sandals, and this outfit has comfy written all over it! the perfect outfit for lounging around the house, but i can head out the door if need be.
oscar, ollie and i wish you a lovely weekend! cheers to summer while it lasts!

Two beautiful women with entirely different styles but looking great. These are some of my favorite posts. The one with both fur babies makes me smile.
Fridays With Oscar remain my favorite, whether fresh new posts, or a walk back down memory lane like today. Look forward to many more! 🧡
I always enjoy seeing Oscar … and maybe his cousin? Love your parrot pants from Talbots, but they are out of my size. Cobb salads are a fav, so I appreciate your recipes (I’ve tried several) too. Thanks and have a good weekend!
Love when you unite with Silver Stylist. Two inspirational silver-haired women with different but individual style. Have a great weekend!
it’s so much fun to get together with Lisa!
Love the white swing blouse with the delicate pattern.
one of my favorites!
Hi Beth, thank you for the little look back, its surprising how the end of summer creeps up on you. Wishing you Oscar and Ollie a lovely weekend xoxo
summers always whiz by! each year seems to go by faster and faster. have a great weekend!
Beautiful reminder of a summer gone too soon. Wild crazy summer here in Manitoba, Canada but now our Autumn beckons.
Adore your white pants! Also love the milk glass tableware 🥂. Milk glass is so whimsical with those charming white dots and yet, at the same time takes the table up a notch. I have several small urchin style milk glass votive holders, that I prefer to use for single blossoms. My grands adore them – as do I 😉
Thank you for sharing a beautiful recap of your summer. Oscar is such a handsome guy, so happy to see him included in your photos. I have a non fashion related question, where do you find those lovely clear coffee cups and saucers? They are the perfect size for a nice latte or even tea. Also, the bubble milk glass is gorgeous. Have a wonderful weekend.
Loved all these when I first read them and love them again now. The parrot pants and that whole outfit is the bomb!
Love your style. Keep on keepin’ on!
Happy Weekend!
i love those parrot pants! they’re just fun!
Good food, pretty table, darling critters and lovely outfits. What’s not to love? Pure joy.
it’s the little things in life that give us such joy!
