New Year’s Eve is coming up fast. Are you ready to ring in another year? It’s time to bid adieu to 2021 and sing auld lang syne when the clock strikes twelve. Most likely, when midnight rolls around, I’ll be curled up in bed, but earlier in the evening, I’ll be dining with family to celebrate all the possibilities a new year brings. And, ahem, there’s a big football game I need to watch on the 31st, so I know we’ll rush home straight after the last bite of dessert!
If you’re looking for a little NYE inspiration, I have four different outfits today. From sequins to feathers to red pumps and a red dress. And if you would like to see the outfits in motion we put together an Instagram Reel.
Do any of you choose a word of the year? I was introduced to this concept several years ago, listening to Gretchen Rubin’s podcast Happier with Gretchen Rubin. It’s fun to mull over different words that encapsulate an entire year. Here are a few words for thought:
focus, grow, organize, thoughtful, deliberate, trust, fearless, grace, truth, serenity, vision, wisdom, sparkle, courage.
Outfit number 1 is a style formula I love to use. Pair a masculine item with a feminine item. It’s the yin and yang of fashion. A black cashmere turtleneck looks fantastic with a sequin skirt. Every girl should own one pair of red shoes. Maybe two!
sequin skirt | turtleneck | red pumps | similar handbag | similar earrings | bracelet | cocktail ring
New Year’s Eve Outfits continues with number 2 borrowed from the boys. Sequin joggers are back in action. Last time I wore them with a tuxedo blouse this time around I’m wearing a tuxedo jacket (old, similar here) that’s softened with a simple camisole (old, similar here) tucked underneath. Add a pair of sandals and I’m ready to roll into the new year.
sequin joggers | similar camisole | similar blazer | sandals | similar handbag | similar earrings | bracelet | cocktail ring
Onto the next New Year’s Eve Outfits. A red dress (old, similar here and here) with a black overcoat (old, similar here) draped over the shoulders for drama. How easy is that style formula? Black pumps (old, similar here) and snazzy accessories keep this outfit fun and festive.
similar red dress | similar overcoat | similar pumps | similar handbag | similar earrings | bracelet | cocktail ring
New Year’s Eve Outfits number four has a bit of drama with feather trimmed pants! They’re toned down with a simple ivory popover blouse, black sandals and a pink cashmere wrap that adds a pop of color.

WOW! WOW! WOW! Every outfit is gorgeous!! You rock each one! Thank you for lifting my spirits and enhancing my style all year long! Happy New Year and many blessings!
Great outfits!
Especially love the hot red shoes and the feather pants.
Pretty snazzy once again. The only item I would not purchase and wear is the feather pants, I would go with my faux leather pants.. My preference. Feather pants would not fit in, in this little farm town in Minnesota. More Georgia outfit but loved everything else.
Four fabulous outfits and you look glamorous in all four!
Wishing you all the best for the new year and may your team win.

Aren’t those feathered pants just the cutest! How fun is that?!
What a fun post! Happy New Year!! (I also watched your outfits in action on IG).
I love all the NYE outfits-very snazzy! Your hair and makeup are spot on. Love your blog.
Hi Beth, I’ve been a silent follower for about a year, discovered you in last Christmas UK’s lockdown. As an early 50’s coming to terms with the aging process you are an inspiration – thank you. I am motivated to share my comment because, oh my goodness those red shoes – awesome. You look graceful, chic and oh so formidable. Go get em girl!
2022…let’s do this!!!
Xxx
4 stunning outfits. Very partial to the joy of red, so last 2 are my favorites. The feather trimmed pants are a delight. How ever will you pick which one to wear?? I think you should bring all to the restaurant and change between courses. You’d make my night if I was there!
Hi Beth,
You rock all your outfits, the feather pants are a bit out there, but if anyone could pull it off YOU could.
They would be a good look for Las Vegas.
I am into an operative word, this year I choice LOVE because I thought our country and the world could use a lot of LOVE each and every day,
The USPS even created a postage stamp in my honor.
YES, I have selected not just one word for 2022,
but three. HOPE SUCCESS VICTORY.
I wish this for everyone.
Although my NYE is going to be spent in isolation with my husband, dancing in the living room, you have inspired me to dress up for the occasion. I will wear a cheetah skirt (inspired by you a while back) and a sparkly black sweater. We will celebrate what we have and look forward to a year without face-hunger and with places to go and people to mingle with at last.

WOW!! Stunning! You took my breath away, Beth! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Every outfit you have on is beautiful.
Too cold here in Boston have to wear boots.
Thank you
Love all the outfits for New Years and you look fabulous in all of them, but, I have to say it-“ Let’s go Blue!” 😉😁😘
Absolutely love these outfits! I realized the white cami trimmed with black is “old” but what brand is it? Sometimes, I find wonderful things at up scale thrift shops and web sites. I want to be on the look out for that cami. Happy New Year!
that cami is from Ann Taylor.
