With Christmas just within reach, it’s time to think about 2023. Can you believe we’re on the brink of ushering in a New Year?! I say this every year but 2022 came and went in the blink of an eye. But with a New Year come new fashion trends. Many of us are wondering if skinny jeans are out for 2023? Don’t kill the messenger but the trend for 2023 is big, baggy and voluminous. It’s always a challenge to incorporate new silhouettes into our closet to stay modern, fresh, and relevant but let’s ease into 2023 slow and easy. Today, let’s take a peek at the denim trends for 2023.
One style tip I love to share is head to your favorite big box retailer like Walmart to dip your toe into the trends. It’s an affordable way to add trends into your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Today, I’m sharing three different styles from Free Assembly available online at Walmart.
Today, I'm tackling whether skinny jeans are out for 2023
I've pulled together 3 alternative, affordable jeans and styled them indvidually

First up is the bootcut or flare jean. I don’t think bootcut denim has ever gone out of style. Ask Cindy Crawford who sports this style every chance she gets. Bootcut jeans are the easiest to style since any type of shoe or boot go with bootcuts. Same goes with tops!
Next is the wide-leg jean which can be challenging to style. Footwear is key and a chunky block heel or chunky boot goes well with this silhouette. As for tops think tailored and cropped to balance the proportion. Wide-leg jeans just might be my favorite. Why? They’re the perfect jean to showcase your footwear. Pick a high waist wide-leg denim as this style will elongate your torso.
Last is the straight-leg jean. Personally, I don’t think straight-leg jeans ever go out of style. But they’re trending for 2023. If you’re not a fan of distressed jeans there are plenty of other options but I happen to love a distressed jean from time to time. Straight-leg jeans are the easiest silhouette to style as you can add any type of footwear and any type of top. This jean goes with everything!
A big thank you to Walmart for this sponsored post. And thank you lovely readers for supporting the brands that allow me to bring you fresh ideas.

Okay, okay, even though 2023 is just a stone's throw away, we all have Christmas on our minds. Right?!
Ever since I was a young girl, I've always looked forward to the Christmas movie releases and watching reruns of my oldie but goldie favorites. It was a tough decision but Love, Actually, is my 2023 favorite Christmas movie.
Just last week, I watched this movie with a stellar ensemble cast for the millionth time and was reminded of how sweet and innocent the storylines were. There's the Prime Minister who falls for the chubby girl; the dad who just lost his wife but rallies to help his step-son impress his crush; the has-been singer whose song reaches #1; the frumpy wife who realizes her husband might stray; the young Brit that thinks American girls just might be better; the videographer that just might be in love with his best friends wife (or is it the best friend?); a writer who falls for his Portuguese housekeeper; and two co-workers that should get together but alas just can't. Oh, let's not forget the porn stars that meet, fall in love, and get married!
The storylines might be cheesy, but British humor is always enjoyable. If you are looking for a feel-good movie that stands the test of time and is hugely entertaining, Love, Actually gets my vote.

My favorite Christmas movie too! I watch it every year. You look great in every outfit. Are the photos recent? Georgia looks so much warmer than Michigan.
Georgia is definitely a lot warmer than Michigan, although January and February can bring chilly temps. The good news is they don’t last and we can see 70-degree days right after a cold snap. Stay warm!
Thanks for this post, Beth! As far as pants go, what goes ’round comes ’round when it comes to style. I am so glad I have saved all my bootcut jeans, wide-leg pants, etc, from the past. The styles have held up remarkably well, which means I don’t have to go out and splurge on brand new pants. I hate trying on pants, and have trouble getting a good fit — so they are not fun to purchase for me.
But I have to admit that wider-leg, baggy pants are not as flattering on anyone. I do prefer the proportions of a slimmer leg with a longer top or jacket. Baggy pants are hard to style — for those of us who are not tall and slim 🙂
Completely agree some styles are more slimming than others. But I also love to have a little fun with fashion and that’s when trends come in handy. Happy Holidays!
I have to agree with Cindy’s comment…I don’t think wide leg or baggy jeans are flattering on many. Beth, you look great in everything, but when looking at your pictures in this post, I think you look taller and slimmer in your straight leg or boot cut jeans. I know as an average size 5’2″ woman, baggy or wide leg jeans make me look 10 lbs heavier…not what I want.
Yes, some styles are flattering and slimming, and others not so much. If I’m off to a special occasion or my goal is to look polished and chic, I reach for outfits that elongate my silhouette. But I also love to have fun with fashion, and I have to admit I’m loving wide-leg pants even though they’re not as flattering. Happy Holidays!
Enjoyed this post on what’s coming in fashion for 2023. The first outfit you styled is my favorite. Very chic and polished. Thanks for always keeping us updated on the latest in fashion.
I really prefer straight leg or boot cut jeans. I think they are the most flattering on everyone.
I do agree with the other comments that if you are short, like me, baggy or loose fitting jeans are not flattering at all. I do like a skinny jean with long sweaters or tunics though.
My favorite movie, It a Wonderful Life! Such a classic.
