5 Fall Fashion Trends I’m Not Wearing

I am glad to hear you say it! Not all styles are to be embraced by us 60+ women. These trends are meant for young women and that’s who you see wearing them in the pictures. It’s taken me a lifetime to know what looks good on me and what does not. Lesson learned many dollars ago.

  2. Peggy says:

Oh my! Who in the world would consider any of these trends attractive? I’ll be passing on these also. smh.

  3. LoriC says:

As usual you hit the mail on the head. Extreme trendy clothes belong on the fashion pages not on your body. And I love your hair!!!!

  4. Andrea says:

Thank you for not being afraid to honestly critic some of this silliness – ‘the Emperor has no clothes.’

Teenagers can wear all manner of things and look ‘mod,’ but this trend towards micro mini, crop tops and the never ending ‘naked’ dresses at Hollywood events is worrying. I’m nothing near prude, but women seem to have lost their sense of self respect, or at least seem willing to trade it for attention.

I love your modified takes on these trends. I have never worn cargo pants, but you, as always, have convinced me to get a pair. Lake outings with the grands when a purse is the last thing you want – functional pockets would definitely save the day !

  5. Kim says:

It seems to me that several of these trends are highlighting bare and very tiny waists. The bulky clothes make the model’s waist appear smaller. The trends always seem to drift toward what “older” women don’t or can’t have. Like a tiny waist. The younger generation is just discovering a body part they didn’t know they had…a waist. After years of low rise skinny jeans. I agree with you that none of these are for those of us who know what looks good on us. Thanks for all your wonderful work!

  6. Thank you for reminding us that we don’t have to wear all the trends, just because some designer came up with it. All these I will not be wearing either. They all look like something you are waiting to grow into or in the case of the micro mini skirt something they grew out of. Thanks for the alternatives. I wear cargo pants and wear them like you do. I never did like low rise jeans, shows most gals underwear, etc. Loved when the high waist jeans came in. Fit me great!

I look to trends for a direction that fashion is going towards, not necessarily what I should wear now. Then I look for elements that interest me, maybe like a strong shoulder line, for instance, that I may like to try on my body shape.
Thanks for showing alternatives, as retail usually tones down
      runway anyway. Thanks.

  7. Tammy says:

Thank you for being brave enough to state the truth. Loving your classy options. Thank you.

  8. Becky says:

I am really tired of oversized anything. This is a trend I would like to see gone never to return. The look is really not flattering to anyone.

  9. Carolina Girl says:

    Agree wholeheartedly!! On all counts

  10. Big applause. Great post. Fun to see how you modified the trend, now how about Barbie Core? LOL

  11. Bonnie Abrams says:

Great tips, Beth. Love your hairstyle in these. Someone pointed out the the bare midriff can be worn by the young but that look is only flattering on those who have practically no middle to speak of ! And those are few and far between.

    • Barbie says:

Great replacements for high fashion trends for every day wear! You do a great job!! Thank you!!

  12. Nancy B. says:

I totally agree with you on all these trends. I’m 61 and prefer to keep clothes mostly classic. Thank you, Beth for giving us the styling tips to help keep us modern.
