Happy Thursday! You might recall from my post last week, I packed a black summer dress as a casual-dressy outfit for our trip to Natchez. Even without having a clear plan for going out on the agenda, I was confident we’d find something fun to do so I could wear this outfit. Sure enough, our friend Chef Regina invited us to a casual cocktail party. A perfect opportunity to wear my black summer dress!
Today's feature is a black summer dress, with wood tone accessories

I love to mix black and brown, especially in the summertime. I really like the softening effect wood tones and browns have on a black outfit. This dress is from last year, but I have rounded up a few similar options, here and here. The dress I am wearing is not petite, so it’s more of a maxi dress than a midi dress.

The wooden platform and chunky heel of the Kiera Mule Platform Sandals are a perfect mix of natural wood tone and black, which makes mixing in other wood tones and browns easy when it comes to my accessories.

I am so happy J.McLaughlin has brought the Genevieve Wood and Cane Clutch back this summer. I reach for this clutch more often than any other in the summer months. Its unique wooden frame and cane sides add visual interest to any outfit.
Recently I bought this Woven Leather Belt at Madewell. Its subtle color variation creates an interesting stripe effect, and I like that it mixes multiple browns. I also like it has a covered buckle, it creates a more cohesive look – which I want since I am mixing in multiple brown tones.

Thanks so much, Georgia Peach! Natchez is such an interesting town, with so many things to see. We enjoyed our visit, and we left a lot to do for next time! xo Kelly
If you can visit during Spring Pilgrimage and tour the old antebellum homes I’d definitely encourage you to do that . And while you’re at it hop on over to Lousiana and drive The River Road.
Im an unapologetic advocate for the Old South❤
We will have to take a drive on the River Road next time we are there. We have only toured a couple of homes, so there are plenty more left to see! Thanks for the tips, Georgia Peach!
