what’s a good way to beat the heat when the dog days of summer set in? slip into a light and airy caftan. or as in today’s ootd a short caftan purchased on sale at my local Talbots. similar here and here.
this top would look lovely with a wide leg pant for evening. today, i’m wearing a pair of on-trend scalloped shorts while bopping around town. this pair was also purchased at Talbots legendary red hangar sale.
straw handbags are a summer favorite of mine. this clutch with the cute sailor knot closure is Talbots circa 2015. but take heart, that a look at this one or this. there is always a large selection to choose from when warm weather hits town. keep your eyes peeled for a style you prefer.
i chose gold metallic sandals to compliment this simple outfit. similar here and here. does anyone remember the lily pulitizer collaboration with target a few years back? yup, these sandals were picked up then. silver or gold metallic shoes or sandals are a must-have in my closet as they act as a neutral.
chandelier earrings similar here and here and stacks of turquoise similar here and here are the perfect summer accessories.
now all i need is an ice cream cone to really beat this heat that’s paid a visit! stay cool ladies. and stay stylish while you’re at it.
It looks light and ethereal–which is great for a hot summer day. I saw a similar one I liked on JJill’s site in blue hues. I have a top like it (with light blues) that I wore over black pants for our graduation in May one year–it’s held under a tent and it’s usually hot as all get out, so it felt great. I got tons of compliments on it. I love the scalloped shorts in the white and the red–they look wonderful! And I agree–that would look fabulous over white pants.

Another winner! Caftans are as cool and breezy as can be in the summer heat. I wear mine with straight-line white jeans.
