i hope you had a wonderful and restful Easter! did you get a chance to connect with those that you love? did you make brunch? what did you make? (hopefully you had a chance try our baked eggs and popovers!) now that i’m spending so much time at home, it’s amazing how the little things i used to take for granted have become, well, highlights of my day. take my daily trip to the mailbox. simple and totally forgettable a few months ago. now, it’s something i look forward to. not only is it a forcing function to get up and out of my house, but it often leads to an impromptu walk around the neighborhood. and that’s really perfect, because we’ve got a few more weeks of absolute perfect weather here in Athens. with that in mind, i thought we’d do a fun OOTD: how to wear a graphic tee.
if you caught my 10 classic essentials that transition to spring yesterday, you’ll know that the classic tee made my list. and what’s more fun in spring and summer than a graphic tee? i would say that the graphic tee made a come back a decade ago, but that’s not really true: they’ve never really went away. i’ve featuring a fun California-themed shirt from J.Crew in honor of my days past, but the best thing about graphic tees, there’s one out there just for you; and just for the mood you’re in.

graphic tees go with anything, literally. i’ve paired mine today with a pair of girlfriend jeans and an equally fun sweater also from J.Crew. it’s transition weather here, so layering is important. but depending on where you are, you may go sans sweater and, say, a pair of ankle jeans. or bootcut. or shorts. or whatever really. in a moment when fun can be hard to come by, remember, it’s the little things in life. and that’s what a good graphic tee is really.

it’s sweater weather—my favorite. so many fun options this year. i’m featuring a cardigan with muted pastels, and it contrasts nicely with the my tee. we’ve featured many cardigans on the blog over the years. dress them up; dress them down; they’re just so flexible. and this one is putting a smile on my face today. i hope it is yours too.

I laughed out loud when you mentioned walking to your mailbox!! Yesterday, my husband and I laughed that getting the mail had becoming one of our daily outings!! Our Tampa summer heat is upon us, so long walks are not enjoyable! Enjoying the daily posts, stay well!💕
the georgia heat is soon to descend but for now our weather is perfect! who knew the mailbox run would be the highlight of our day?! take care. xo
Perfect head-to-toe look! Love those sandals. Love the yellow. Looks fantastic with your gray hair. The picture as you cross the road is beautiful. You inspire me to try graphic tees. Saw a lady Saturday in a black tee with “Johnny, Merle, Waylon, Wille” on it. Country legends! Caught my eye and made me smile. You’ve launched our week off in the best way! Yellow it is! Love to you and all the blog sisters~
i always love the read the graphic tees. nothing better than a band tee to bring a smile to your face. take care! xo
Good Morning Beth,
I like your casual outfit . I have the same yellow sandals and think they are a nice touch to a casual outfit our dressy one.
The weather by you looks nice, enjoy.
Have a great day.
i’ve gotten so much mileage out of these yellow sandals. you’re right, dress them up or down. either way they just add a special touch. take care! xo
You are advertising CA peaches here in GA?? 😂😂 Be careful with that… Georgians are very proprietary about their peaches! All kidding aside, I do love your graphic tee suggestions. Since I’m learning French, I immediately ordered the Lundi, Mardi, Mercredi etc. tee you had on a few weeks ago. Love your posts!!
i’m living dangerously that’s for certain! but i couldn’t resist this adorable tee so i took a chance. so glad you snagged the french tee. love the pops of color with that one. take care! xo
Thank you for continuing to bring new ideas for all of us. We have snow in Minnesota.
my brother lives in minneapolis and called the day it snowed, was gorgeous and sunny then blizzard conditions…
the weather is definitely a topic of conversation all year round in minnesota that’s for sure. take care! xo
Love the shirt! I picked up the Michigan cherry one from J-Crew last month. Loving your post and love that your DIL is involved – I haven’t had a chance to comment on the last couple of posts, but I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED them including Kelly’s. I love seeing this personal side! I ALSO, LOVE your neighborhood and all the rolling terrain – looks peaceful and tranquil – hoping to retire south soon as it’s been very gloomy here in the Cleveland, OH area.
Stay safe and stay well Beth, and a big thank you for all the work you do – it can’t be easy with all the content you provide. PS Would love to see more capsule ideas with existing. I love to add new things, but can’t afford so much and have to reinvent my existing. much love from rocky river, oh
thanks so much, chris! kelly has been a wonderful addition to the blog. she’s an a-ma-zing cook so don’t forget to tune into her saturday segement – kelly’s kitchen. take care! xo
PS Beth, would love to know the sizes you where in the items you wear and your opinion on the kind of fit – if you think they fit larger or smaller than some of the same articles you were. Thanks Beth!
oh my gosh – love auto correct. Please pardon the misspellings 🙁
today, the blue jeans are a size 8 true to size. the tee and cardigan are medium also true to size.
I looked at the tee shirt online. Comments were made that it ran small.
I am about your size. What size are you wearing?
sometimes i agree with the reviewers and sometimes not as in this case. i am wearing my regular size medium and think it fits true to size. hope that help. take care! xo
The graphic T-shirt can add that little spark of fun to your wardrobe. You look amazing as always, Beth.
We had a snow event on Easter and it will be a few days before it’s gone. April is such an unpredictable month, one day we have 75 degree temps and the next day the snow is blowing!
That’s Dakota Territory for you!
Stay well everyone! Thanks for keeping us in touch Beth!
gotta love the midwest in spring. anything can happen! thanks so much for stopping by. take care! xo
You are so right about the simple things. They are our very foundation in turbulent times. I have always found great peace in the simple things. The first snow, the first warm day, the first goose flight in the fall/spring, the first song birds returning, the first spring rain and the first spring shoots showing in the beds. My all time favourites are fresh air, line dried bedding and a light spritz of perfume in the shower, all of which make my heart sing and calm my soul. These pleasures are free to all – except the perfume. Perhaps our great obsession with materialistic acquisitions will be more in line with our needs vs our wants.
thanks so much for sharing a few of your favorite things! and, yes, it’s always the small things that brighten our day. take care! xo
Thanks for this post about graphic tees. I have never thought of them as a nice accent to an outfit. I like the ones that have ample room around the waist area…and not too long. I’ll have to shop my closet with this post in mind. Another topic might be socks—if and when to wear colored socks.
isn’t it fun to shop your closet? not a bad way to spend an afternoon. take care! xo
A Happy Spring look brightening difficult times.
it’s funny but clothes have such a powerful impact on our lives. so let’s make the most of it and add whimsy to our wardrobe. take care! xo
We had a nice quiet Easter with good food and phone calls. I will try the recipe for popovers soon. It looks delicious!
I only own one graphic tee which is a Christmas one my neice gave me. I love the one you have on. I overlook graphic tees because I get so caught up in buying neutrals all the time. I need to be styling a little more. I see a few of these in my future. You inspire me. 🍑
neutrals are important to stock up but it’s fun to add a little whimsy to your wardrobe from time to time. take care! xo
Oh my! Living in the Peach State and you’re wearing a California peach shirt?? Isn’t that sac religious? LOL
i’m living dangerously for sure! but i couldn’t resist this adorable tee. take care! xo
I agree. It at least gets you out of the house for a few minutes. I too like graphic tees. It looks like your hair is getting longer just like the rest of us.
cannot wait for my stylist to get her hands on my mop again! i’m growing it out to a chin length bob but boy oh boy do i long for a trim. take care! xo
You look very spring-y and lovely in your striped sweater and fun T. It was very windy and chilly here, too, this morning, and then got sunny and quite warm. So sweaters with t-shirts are excellent choices–layering at its best. Think how much we’re going to love and appreciate it when we’re all “free” to move around again. I went for a long solitary walk yesterday and some sweet local children had put chalk writing all over the walkway–things like “Take it a day at a time,” and “Spread kindness, not germs,” “Take time for self-care,” and “Don’t worry.” I was so touched–this difficult time has brought out the best in many. It touched me to see. Hang in there! Your blog is a bright spot.
there was a string of thunderstorms that rolled through the south sunday to monday. thanks for sharing the chalk writing from the children. you’re so right that this challenging time has brought out the best in so many. encouraging to see. take care! xo
Love your hair growing out. It is funny that I was thinking of growing mine out for my son’s wedding May 29th. Hoping that we are able to open a few things up in Michigan, like hair salons. Looking forward to seeing how your style your hair.
Unfortunately they are going to cancel the planned wedding going for a small backyard event with just immediate family. With the thought of having a reception later in the year. Thank you for all your wonderful posts and keeping up the great style. I refuse to be in pajamas all day even though we cannot leave our homes.
No graphic tees for me, thanks. I like to make eye contact (especially now that I wear a mask on my walks) not have others reading my clothes. But I appreciate this light hearted approach to fashion. I hope you’ll do a post on styling a white jean jacket because I’d love to see your ideas. Please continue to stay safe!
I would love for you to do a “rerun” on your graphic tee: gray with red Paris written on it and the different ways to wear it.
Love your blog. Stay healthy!
This is adorable. Love a graphic tee.
