There’s no singing the blues today! It’s all about the power of pink from head to toe. The beauty of a monochrome outfit is that It elongates your frame, creating the illusion of height. Almost any color works for a monochromatic outfit. It could be a neutral color scheme with all blue or all black; even camel works well.

In fashion, monochromatic means dressing in a single color (“mono” means single, and “chromatic” means color). It can involve the same color head to toe, but it can also consist of different shades from the same color family.
When putting together a monochromatic outfit, think about your favorite colors you love to wear. And remember when people pay you a compliment. What color are you wearing? That’s certain to be a color that compliments your skin tone. But don’t be afraid to color outside the box. Love grey? Me too! Now’s the time to pull your greys together for a chic and sophisticated monochromatic outfit. Or maybe it’s green. Keep in mind that colors communicate feelings. When you see red, you think of passion. Blue is related to calm and relaxed. Yellow is joy, and green is tranquility.
What if the colors don’t match perfectly? Not to worry, as wearing multiple shades in the same color keeps things interesting. To help matters along, think about texture as well as shade.
Case in point, today I’m dressed in head-to-toe pink, although the shades might be subtly off.
Don’t neglect proportions. Notice how the sweater not only adds texture but adds balance to the loose-fitting trousers. It’s a sleeveless chunky sweater, but it’s not oversized, giving balance to the outfit.
Another style tip when pulling together a monochromatic outfit is accentuating the right areas. If you want to camouflage wider hips, choose your pants in a darker color than the rest of the outfit. Darker pants or skirt paired with a lighter blouse or sweater.
On days when your creative juices run on empty, a monochromatic outfit will always come to the rescue. There’s nothing easier than reaching for a pair of black pants and a black turtleneck and finishing the outfit with a black leather moto jacket. Yep, it’s that easy, especially when most of us own black pants and a black sweater.
