Happy Sunday, ladies! As promised, today we have Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dressing Room Diaries – Part 1. Last Wednesday, my daughter-in-law Kelly and my future daughter-in-law Chelsea headed to Nordstrom for a little retail therapy and a whole lot of fun. My mother and I spent years navigating our favorite retail stores and then celebrating our scores with a lady’s lunch. I’m thrilled that the girls in my life are up for a day of shopping and a bite to eat afterward. Honestly, there’s nothing more fun than a girl’s day out! And boy, oh boy, did we have fun! So I’m pleased as punch to share a few behind-the-scenes photos, what we tried on, and what came home with us. The good news is that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public on Monday, July 17th. Can you believe there are still three weeks left of shopping this epic event?! 2023 has been the best sale in years, in my humble opinion, so take a peek. There’s something for everyone.
Beth, Kelly, and Chelsea share what they found at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Wide-leg trousers are trending this year and I am always looking for new styles that feature this comfortable and incredibly easy-to-wear trend.
A neutral silk blouse is a wardrobe staple must-have.
A green utility jacket is a wardrobe staple that goes with everything. This one is from Caslon, a Nordstrom Made Brand that’s oh so affordable. The waist-cinching drawstring cord adds versatility in the form and shape of the jacket. The boyfriend jeans from Wit & Wisdom offer a casual, laid-back vibe perfect for the weekend.
I always see what Eileen Fisher has on hand for the Anniversary Sale. I have slim knit ankle pants in black, so I was thrilled to see them in Woodland, a beautiful shade of green. They fit perfectly underneath a side-slit tunic sweater for a matching set.
I was lucky to find another color of my favorite summer top in-store, the Vince Camuto Rumpled Satin Blouse in a denim-blue color. I cannot sing the praises of this top louder! In any color, it’s such a great go-to top for summer – and fall (imagine it under a blazer or lady jacket). I have also mentioned many times that it’s a great top for travel thanks to the rumpled satin fabric.
I already know this Open Edit Ruched Tulip Hem Skirt will be on repeat all summer and fall. Chelsea and I both brought this skirt home, in different colors. It’s a great dress-it-up or dress-it-down skirt. And so Comfortable! The skirt is a pull-on style, with an elastic waist, it’s a great find!
This Eliza J Floral Tiered Dress was the first thing I pulled from the rack. I love a green and pink color combination. Perfect for summer and for our warm early fall. This is not a petite size, so the length falls to my knee, which is great. I imagine cinching the waist with a belt to give it a little more definition.
Normally, I am poo-pooing the fact that summer is half over, but I can look forward to wearing this sweater/faux leather skirt combination in October. Nordstrom did not have this skirt in my size at the store. I am wearing a size 6 in this photo, but thanks to a hairclip clipping the back I can get an idea of what my size will be like. I liked this skirt so much (even 3 sizes too big!) that I went right to our lovely saleswomen and she ordered my size right on the spot! My size is sent directly to my home – so easy!
These Veronica Beard Wide-legged pants were everything and more. If you are looking for a statement piece in your wardrobe, look no further. They cinch you at the waist and have the most flattering shape. Beware they do run quite long so for my shorter gals you may need to get hemmed or wear heels, and for my taller ladies, these would be perfect! The top is Veronica Beard too, but seems to be sold out already! Here is a similar Veronica Beard Top.
You can’t go wrong with Levi’s ‘90s Denim Trucker Jacket. It is a wardrobe staple and will pair perfectly with almost any outfit! I paired it with the Spanx High-Waist Faux Suede Leggings. Spanx can truly do no wrong. These leggings suck you in in all the right places and are so comfortable, yet stylish!
This Open Edit Mock Neck Ribbed Sweater is the perfect fall transitional wardrobe staple. The fitted style of the sweater makes it perfect to tuck into a skirt or a pair of jeans! I’ve paired it with this Open Edit Ruched Tulip Hem Skirt, which is so comfortable. It is the perfect skirt to wear to work and transition to a night on the town.
Who doesn’t love a good structured blazer?! The green really makes any outfit stand out, but still keeps a neutral tone. I have on the Top Shop pleated high-waisted shorts with it which make for a perfect elevated work look on a hot summer day! Dress them up with a pair of heels or down with some sneakers. This blazer is already sold out online, but here are similar one-button blazer styles on sale:
Crosby Plaid Blazer | Jubeka One-Button Blazer | Plaid One-Button Blazer
Don't forget about accessories! In-store we found sunglasses, hats, handbags and more! With even more to choose from online, be sure to check out the accessories selection and save items to your wishlist for easier adding to your cart and to be notified when items go out of, and come back in, stock.
Celine Butterfly Sunglasses sold out online, similar styles: Quay Ever After Gradient Sunglasses | Tom Ford Cat Eye Sunglasses

This year’s sale is the best it’s been in years! Happy shopping!
I look forward to this post every year. It is such fun! You always show some great selections, as well as having fun together. I like looking forward at fall and winter items this time of year.
Thanks, Joanie! Right?! It’s sweltering outside so I agree wholeheartedly about thinking all things fall.
You must have raised some smart sons, Beth, to get such beautiful DILs (well, one is “to-be”). Thanks for sharing this and Part 2 … love the Levis 90s Denim Trucker Jacket on Chelsea, the Caslon Utility Jacket on you and the almond faux leather skirt on Kelly. So much fun!
I agree, Carolina Girl! The boys have excellent taste! I have delightful daughter-in-laws!
Kelly,
Did you receive the Veronica Beard tan faux leather skirt? How did you find the sizing? What size did you go with? Wondering if it runs big. Thanks
