there’s something so crisp, fresh, and sporty about the classic color scheme red, white, and blue. if you add stripes into the mix then it must be summer (or close enough). some of you might remember i wore this stripe boucle jacket here and i knew it wouldn’t be long before i paired it with something besides white denim. in fact, every single piece of today’s ootd has made an appearance on the blog at lease once. this navy polo dress last seen here is a summertime staple due to its knit fabrication. shoes seen here
if by chance you don’t own a pair of red shoes you might reconsider. i own two – a pair of ballet flats and these block heels. and i have to admit whenever i wear red shoes there’s an extra spring in my step. they’re just plain fun! at first, when putting together today’s outfit, i thought about carrying a red backpack. but in the end, i chose a white hobo bag as the basketweave pattern adds a hint of flair. i don’t know about you but i think I’m ready to set sail right on into tuesday.

So right about red shoes! I added a pair of red ballet flats to my wardrobe this spring and find myself planning my ootds around them. They are so much fun to wear.
i thought i had caught up answering comments, but i missed this post! thanks for stopping by linda. and i’m happy to hear you understand the power of red shoes. they are so dang fun.

What a pretty light blue under the collar when you pop it up–and I admired those shoes before–they’re knockouts–they’re the perfect shade of red and I love the shape of the shoe, too. Really like all these paired together. And yes–red shoes almost always find their way into my closet. Have a great Tuesday!
hi sue! i missed this post. but i hope you know how much i love hearing from you every day. it’s part of my routine to read your comment.

Love the way you remix pieces…you are a champion at shopping your own closet! Valuable lessons for the rest of us in building a wardrobe. I wonder how long the block heel trend will stay. It sure is comfortable and far more stable for walking. The basket weave hobo bag is fabulous…love me some basket weave. xoxo
You’re right–I love how Beth does a remix with her pieces and that’s why I love this blog—she gives me inspiration. I won’t buy anything unless I absolutely love it and will continue to love it.
i missed this post, sharon! but you are 100% right when it comes to adding clothes into your closet. you have to love it.
xoxo
i hope the block heel is here to stay! they are so comfortable and much better for our feet than stilettos…

Great look – polished but fun. As I always said – you have the most gorgeous bags and always choose a perfect one to complete the look with pizazz!
hi rebecca! sorry i missed this post. but i think i might be caught up with comments. phew!
but a gorgeous handbag is very similar to owning a killer pair of shoes. they can make or break your outfit.

I have had at least 1 pair on red shoes in my closet since high school. My granddaughter in high school now. Red shoes have always been a wardrobe staple. Love to see someone else who believes in ruby slippers being magic.
Love red shoes!
hi leslie! sorry i missed this post. but it sounds as if you love red shoes too. what a great addition to anyone’s closet.

Am still thrilled to have met you at Target last night! Love your site and your fab style. xo Linda
so sorry i missed this post! but it was so fun to chat with you at Target. i never did find a cute beach bag but we soooo enjoyed our stay in hilton head.

You are speaking my language in this outfit and just showed me how I can style a similar navy dress with one of my striped jackets. The red shoes are a great touch—-a little reminiscent of Dorothy and the ruby slippers. I think we all need a little spark in every outfit. Was there a Talbots trunk show in your area?
hi sharon! sorry i missed this post. i’m fairly certain Talbots had a trunk show, but i wasn’t in attendance. although the staff at my local store knows me well as i’m in and out frequently. love Talbots!
