Happy Monday, ladies! Can you believe we are almost halfway through May? Memorial Day will be here before you know it, and with it, the unofficial start to (gulp) summer. Technically, summer begins on June 21st, but in my mind, the long weekend kicks off all things summer.
I’m in Tybee this week, which always signifies my start to summer. Beaches and Summer go together like cheese and crackers, and I always zip over to the beach house in May to kick off all things summer. Then again in September, when I bid farewell to my favorite season. What is not to love about longer days, picnics, watermelon, and ice cream? It’s also the season for backyard barbeques and a Memorial Day Cookout is the perfect way to spend time with family and friends over a delicious burger and homemade ice cream. I love my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker that whips up two quarts of deliciousness in a single batch.
If you’re hosting a backyard barbeque, don’t forget to have a friendly outdoor game or two on hand. It adds so much enjoyment! Connect Four is lots of fun and one of the Djalali favorites. Giant Jenga includes a carry bag and scoreboard. Cornhole can be played with teams. Ring Toss is portable and an oldie but goodie is Croquet
Let’s not forget about a cute outfit, no matter what your long weekend plans may be! Today, I’m sharing ten Memorial Day Outfits you’ll love wearing on one of the most anticipated holidays of the year. So grab your iced tea and scroll through the post for a bit of inspiration.

If you’re looking to put together a chic but comfy outfit to celebrate Memorial Day its as easy as pulling together red, white and blue. If you like to add a bit of whimsy to your outfit how cute is this flag tee, perfect for Memorial Day weekend or any patriotic holiday like the Fourth of July, and Labor Day. Loft and Talbots always carries whimsical tees. J.Crew Factory too! But you can never go wrong with a navy and white stripe tee or gingham.
Today, I put together a simple yet polished outfit that starts with the flag tee. These white shorts from J. McLaughlin will be on summer repeat because they’re a great length and go with everything. I love the versatility of separates that can be mixed and matched, dressed up or down. Last time I wore the shorts, I paired it with a matching blazer and the strapless Dorota Top for a chic look. This time around, the flag tee adds a casual feel to the outfit, especially with the addition of white sneakers and a web belt (old, similar here). But I absolutely love this gingham blazer that will go with a white dress or white denim.

Looking for more Memorial Day outfit inspiration? Now that the family roster includes DILs, I pulled together a few boards that 30 or 40-somethings might like. All of us at a certain age have watched our families expand! When I started this blog at age 56, it was just Mr. Style and me, along with all three of our sons, who were strewn across the country from San Francisco to New York. Now, I’m blessed to have not one but three daughters-in-law who live in close proximity and are part of my daily life. And I must admit I love shopping with them just like my mom and I used to do.
Sail to Sable have the cutest summer dresses. I love the option of sleeveless vs. long sleeves. Add an espadrille sandal and a pair of white sunglasses and you’re ready for the day!
I’m a big fan of denim shorts and I love this longer version from a tried and true brand Agolde. Add a boatneck tank or v-neck tee. Sneakers or Sandals. Who doesn’t love choices?
Tuckernuck always carries a wonderful selection of dresses. How cute is this Madras Maxi dress? Add chunky gold earrings and gold bangle for that little extra something.
A blue eyelet maxi dress and denim espadrilles are the perfect combo. Add a hat and a wicker handbag for a summery daytime look.
I have a prep to my step with sailor collar cardigan, rib tee and white denim skirt!
What is more comfortable to wear than an airy gauze top and matching shorts that comes in indigo blue or blue iris? Love this fabric that’s made from breathable cotton. Espadrille sandals add that laid back look and add star stud earrings for a hint of a patriotic vibe.
This striped dress is perfect for any summer day as well as Memorial Day weekend. Add white sneakers, bucket hat and a bamboo handle straw tote and you are good to go!
I love a classic cable knit cardigan that’s the perfect third layer. Chino shorts with a button front detail set it apart from the pack. And y’all know I never met a stripe I didn’t like!
Navy and white is always all right whether I’m at the beach or dining al fresco. Exchange the rollneck sweater for a cotton tee when the temps heat up.
