And just like that, I’m back in Athens! It’s always good for the soul to zip away for the week. But I’m a big fan of weekend getaways, especially girls' weekend getaways. One of my dearest friends from my Houston days and I always plan a yearly trip to unwind, catch up, and create new memories. So today, I thought it would be fun to share a round-up of girls' weekend getaway ideas that you and your besties could plan for an upcoming trip.
One thing is for sure: I always welcome a dress in my suitcase when planning a girls' trip, whether you’re headed to San Diego or Key West. This past week in Tybee, I wore several dresses. How cute is this linen midi shirt dress from Ann Taylor that's perfect for a day trip to Savannah?

You could head to several destinations for a girls' getaway this time of year. North Carolina or South Carolina are great places to visit before the heat sets in. Both states have majestic mountains and beautiful beaches. But if Charleston is on your bucket list, Kelly and I have shared blog posts about all things Charleston here, here, and here.
A monochromatic shorts suit would be perfect for an evening out in Charleston or Las Vegas. Take your pick.
I booked an Air BnB when I visited Charleston and Savannah, but bed and breakfasts are a good choice. When I visited Natchez, MS, to attend Regina Charbaneau's Brunch & Biscuit cooking class, this adorable bed and breakfast had just opened The Big Muddy Inn & Blues Room Inn, which has six music-themed suites. This colorful halter flare dress is perfect for day or evening in this charming town. Or check out this weekend getaway outfits post for more ideas!
Check out What to Pack for a Tropical Vacation if you’re headed to a warm weather destination. Kelly just returned from Mexico and shared What to Wear in Mexico.
Some of you remember when I lived in San Francisco. That's where the blog got its start! Napa and Tahoe were easy weekend destinations, so if wine tasting is up your alley, then Napa Valley or Sonoma County award-winning Wineries offer an authentic glimpse of Northern California. Francis Ford Coppola Winery is fantabulous, as is Cline Family Cellars. Wine country can be hot, so I love to pack a linen dress that’s cute, comfy and beats the heat.
San Diego has the best climate year-round, but Newport, Rhode Island, is best seen during the summer months. Newport is on my bucket list, and I’m hoping this is the year I will finally visit the Gilded Age mansions and eat my share of lobster rolls. Love this LBD that would go out to dinner with ease in the city by the sea. And I love, love, love this blue dress and metallic accents that’s perfect for any special occasion.
I love long walks on the beach and am not afraid to paddle board or go on a mountain hike, but I never seem to plan to visit national parks. Maybe it’s time to head to Montana or Wyoming? It’s been years since I’ve visited Jackson Hole. The Grand Tetons are a sight to behold!
Key West not only has pastel-hued houses but is better known for its coral reefs, snorkeling, and diving. A flowy linen caftan dress would be perfect for touring Ernest Hemingway’s home.
Let me know what destinations you've booked with your gal pals! One of my friends recently rented a house in Carmel with mothers, daughters, sisters, and all those female in-laws. The photos were breathtaking! And the girls had a ball all week long.

The dresses are very cute. I live outside Newport and would recommend the autumn over summer for a visit. It’s less crowded, less humid, and still has many events for tourists; and you’ll avoid all the families with kids in tow. It’s a very casual town.
Thanks for the suggestion, Maeve! A friend of mine just returned from the area and told me I had to visit the Troll sculptures scattered throughout the town.
Thank you. I haven’t seen these, and they look like fun. There are some great trolls in Boothbay Botanical Gardens, ME which is not far from my daughter’s.
Come to Montana and visit Glacier National Park! Make reservations for the Red Bus and leave the driving to them. Then you’ll be able to see the beauty without having to navigate your car.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’m dying to visit Montana!
