this week, we’re launching a new series now & then. the idea is simple: every day we’re going to feature an outfit i wore this spring and restyle it for fall. if you’re like me, fashion reusability is a must, and given that spring and fall are both transition seasons, outfits that work in the spring often work perfectly in autumn. my hope today is to provide you a little inspiration to go back to your wardrobe and put a fresh take on an old outfit. so, here’s how i wore the same outfit this spring & fall: the mighty jumpsuit.
it’s an open secret that i love jumpsuits. i first wore this utility jumpsuit from Everlane earlier this spring after my knee surgery. i paired it with a striped tee and sandals. i think there’s a feeling that there’s not much we can add to a jumpsuit to spice it up a bit. not so. both the tee and sandals give an otherwise spartan outfit some visual interest. (i always love a pop of color.)

now here’s the same jumpsuit styled for fall. notice that i removed the tee, but added a similar belt and a (similar) pair of wedge sandals. i also cuffed the pants, which creates such a different feel, right? a little more sassy. a little more classy. a little more fun. you can imagine wearing this outfit out to happy hour or dinner, but as we saw above, it can be styled a bit more conservatively when necessary. it’s amazing the different looks you can create with the same outfit and transition seamlessly into fall.

I Beth,
I love the fall look even more. Might I say your hairstyle and makeup in this latest shoot is even more flattering. I love the paler shade of lipstick on you. It is softer, youthful and more gentle on your face than less dramatic shades.-
Jane
I agree
but it’s fun to experiment with makeup and brighter lipshades. don’t forget that in the first photos i had Covid hair and a week out of surgery. boy am i glad to have that behind me.
Can you please tell us where your round black bag is from? I am loving round bags! Thanks!
the round handbag is sadly no longer available. but it’s from Talbots spring collection.
Hi Beth just wanted to say I love the neutral light colour of the jumpsuit you are wearing, the tee shirt underneath is a good idea too. Also interesting is your new topic about wearing the same outfits at different seasons, I practise this to some extent but I shall look forward to seeing this for more ideas!
it’s so important to get a bang for your buck, especially when it comes to clothes. i know we’re all looking for lots of ways to rewear (is that a word?) our outfits. so i hope you’ll like this mini-series.
Glad the blog is back…. you were missed. Oh I love this Fall look! I agree with Jane in that I like it even better than the Spring look. I too like the soft makeup look; so lovely.
I love both looks and can imagine many more with different accessories and pairings. You have a lovely figure for jumpsuits. You look pretty as a picture in both stylings – lucky you to look so good in both pale and bright lippies. You really illustrated the value of neutral pieces in transition seasons. Love this new theme. Hope your vacation was nice – missed your blog!
it’s always nice to take a break. thanks for tuning in! we have some nice content coming your way in the next few months.
and we all love fall! it’s the best season for fashion. but those transition months can be a challenge.
I LOVE HOW YOU ARE SHOWING US THINGS YOU ALREADY HAVE IN YOUR CLOSET BETH!!! I am desperately trying to pare down and get more towards a capsule wardrobe and then buying little and swapping items in and out. I am wanting to buy better fitting and better quality. This post and series hits the nail on the head for me! I’ve noticed you using a bit more from your closet and I for one GREATLY APPRECIATE IT! Love you post Beth! Thank you – I know it’s a lot of work!
As always, my best to your and your family!
thanks, chris! i know how important it is to get lots of mileage out of our purchases, especially when it comes to clothes.
What a fun idea—I am looking forward to seeing all of the other restyled outfits! Although I wore jumpsuits in the 1980s, I don’t think I want to have to pull the whole thing down when I go to the restroom now. However, your fall look is so classy that I might consider trying a jumpsuit again.
the common complaint about jumpsuits is the trip to loo. but i love them so much that it’s worth the hassle to me. but i get it…
Leopard accessories would be another option for fall. I purchased some but haven’t had a chance to wear them yet. I could visualize them with your jumpsuit.
leopard accessories are always a good idea! they would fantastic with this jumpsuit.
I do admire you and your style. Your home is beautiful and Oscar is great. I can see adding a blazer or cardigan and boots when it gets cooler. This would work for me until Christmas most years.
ooohhh, that’s a great idea! might have to steal that from you.
Hi Beth
I love this topic as many items do double duty in my wardrobe. Spring and fall transitional outfits can be fun and tricky. I really like your hair this length. It is so flattering! You look wonderful and youthful. Blessings and prayers to you and your family. Thanks for posting.
thanks, joanie, for the prayers. and thanks so much for reading the blog.
My fav is the fall look!
i love the jumpsuit styled this way too!
Too funny, Beth, you are so right about different opinions. I was just about to say I thought that shade of lipstick washed you out a little. Lighter shades are kinder to us, but it’s all in the colour and the dimensional aspect. This colour has no dimensional aspect. You look best, I think, in bright lively, but not dark colours. We have similar colouring, hair and face shape. I have tried that light mauve and I can only get away with it in a white shirt. Follow your heart, they are your lips 😉. Love the way you cuffed the jumpsuit- modern and youthful.
You are an inspiration! Thank you!
Your hair and makeup is perfect! Love that look on you.
I really like it much better cuffed. Love the Wedge sandals too.
Both seasonal looks are great, but I felt the black belt paired with the fall look provided more definition to your waistline. I’m going natural with my hair which means gray/silver. My mother never colored her hair so that’s an inspiration to me, but you have also been an inspiration Beth! I will admit my dear sister is not happy with my decision. She hasn’t asked me if I’ve lost my mind, but she’s thinking it!
I love what you wrote, “fashion reusability is a must!” I absolutely agree. If I can make workhorses from my existing closet items, then I have succeeded. And I think the challenge of finding a variety of ways to style them just adds to the fun. I look forward to reading the posts in this series.
Oh, Beth, love your Fall jumpsuit look with the rolled up cuffs! I enjoy doing that with my pants because it makes me feel like there’s a spring in my step. Your devotion to your health is showing up front and center. So inspiring! Missed y’all last week and very happy to walk across Fall with you~
I am looking forward to this new series. I need to slow down purchasing clothes and hopefully by seeing what you do will give me new fresh ideas.
