the 2015 party season is in full swing. so if you are standing in front of your closet pondering, “what do i wear?” i’ve thrown together some festive outfits to get your creative juices flowing. one of my style tricks is wearing separates even for evening wear. every once in a while you will see me in a dress, and i do adore them. but if you are looking for versatility, separates are the way to go. they give you endless possibilities that you can mix-and-match for years to come.
are you ready to tweak your holiday style? then pull up a chair in front of the computer. or scroll through your smart phone if you’re in the grocery store check-out lane killing time. there just might be one or two outfits that will inspire your inner party girl. for those of you in warmer climates, i’ve tried to incorporate one or two looks just for you.
sometimes it’s as easy as popping a faux fur jacket over a dress, and adding a few of your favorite gemstones.
or maybe a sparkly tee paired with a skirt is more to your liking. metallic sandals help keep the look festive.
a velvet blazer is one of my all-time favorites and is the perfect fabric for the holidays.
keep the mood bright with sparkly accessories. handbags and shoes are the easiest to interchange.
and don’t forget that a sequin skirt can be worn year round.
black silk pants are a must-have for me. they go with everything. for a warmer climate they are perfect paired with a patterned blouse.
for a colder climate choose a patterned cardigan.
what’s better than red and black this time of year? details like the seed pearls on this sweater kick it up a notch.
mix-and-match your separates for a fun, holiday look. do you have a flannel shirt in your closet? pair it with a velvet skirt or pants. add a belt, and a glitzy clutch and you’re ready for christmas brunch.
don’t forget winter white. it’s a classic and looks fab with every other color you throw at it. have one or two frilly blouses hanging in your closet to jazz up a pair of leather leggings or denim. notice the metallic handbag?
party on, ladies!

Beth, that feather jacket is such a fabulous piece!
would you believe i debated on this jacket before deciding i’d give it a try? i’m not a typical fence-sitter when it comes to clothes. but i’m so happy i gave this jacket a whirl. now i wear it with jeans or dresses! so happy to hear you like it too!

You are wearing my favorite outfits! Love the velvet blazer. Who would have thought to glam up a flannel shirt?
i love high/low style that sharon stone introduced to us all those years ago when she showed up at the academy awards in a gap shirt and vera wang skirt.
