today’s post is all about what i wore to my book club. yes, i belong to a book club in athens. last spring a friend of mine rebecca, who loves to read as much as i do, and i decided to start a book club. this vibrant group of ladies meets every month on the second tuesday at 7 pm. each member selects a month to host the group in her home then chooses the book we will read for that month. it’s an easy way to read books you might otherwise have passed by on the bookshelf. and i love the fact that every month i have the opportunity to spend the evening with talented, smart, and lively women that share one common denominator – we all love to read books.
for the september meeting yours truly was the hostess. what did we read? Maman’s Homesick Pie by award-winning chef Donia Bijan who happens to be mr. style’s cousin. Maman’s Homesick Pie takes you on a journey that starts during the iranian revolution of the 1970’s and how donia built a new life in the san francisco bay area. recipes and memories. does a book get any better? to say the least, my book club thoroughly enjoyed this book. next month we’ll be reading Night Train to Lisbon by Pascal Mercier. can’t wait to dive into the pages.
so what did i wear to my book club? well, tuesday was a jam-packed day, so i reached for my style uniform. the 4b’s – blazer, button-up, blue jeans, and ballet flats. if you look closely, you’ll notice i swapped the button-up for a graphic tee and ballet flats for mules. graphic tees are an easy way to add a little fun to an outfit. blazers add the spit and polish. mules are still going strong trend-wise, and they’re a comfortable and stylish option for flats. last year i wore these mules non-stop all through fall into winter. and i couldn’t wait to share my new belt similar here and safari chic charm bracelet from my shopping spree in florida. the bracelet is actually a necklace that can be worn both ways. remember, i was fortunate enough to purchase my new ‘finds’ at the outlet store in florida.

how about my lovely readers? anyone else has a passion for reading? if so then i’m inviting you to join an online book club called book club with style. this is a closed group on facebook that will be hosted each month by a published author! yes, there are three lovely, brilliant, and accomplished authors that will join me with this new venture to share their love of reading and writing. the details are being hammered out as i type but book club with style will launch in october with a live video introducing the authors, their book genres, the book selection for november, and any other pertinent information regarding the facebook community. the twist with book club with style is a live video led by one of the hostesses each month. the live video enables you to participate with questions or comments with the current book selection. of course, having a dedicated facebook community allows you the opportunity to chat with each other all month long on the facebook page and share your favorite books. plus, you will gain insight into the writing process from the perspective of the book club hosts and what it takes to be a published author in the 21st century. what do you think? if you are as excited as i am about books and book clubs, then head on over and join book club with style.
