and a very happy birthday america! who doesn’t don the red, white and blue to ease into the festivities? mr. style and i have been knocking around the highways and byways of georgia. taking in a few history lessons. we zipped over to milledgeville which served as the state capital in the early 1800’s. and visited the old state capitol and toured the governor’s mansion. did you know that acclaimed author flannery o’conner grew up in milledgeville? well, she did. here’s another fun factoid. if you’re curious about the double-barreled cannon i’m standing next to, this is a modern landmark located in downtown athens. it was originally built as an experimental weapon during the civil war but never fired a shot after its initial test run. there are differing reports as to who or what was killed after the cannon’s debut back in april of 1862. but according to the Watchman, it was deemed an ‘unqualified success.’ today, the double-barreled cannon sits on the front lawn of city hall here in athens, ga. urban legend claims it points northward in defiance of the north… okay, okay enough with the history tidbits. but georgia is full of ’em. our founding fathers fought hard for this land, and i can see why! here’s wishing you and yours have a lovely independence day.

Love this outfit on you…great tote! I can see all these components in other outfits. Have a marvelous 4th! Looks like more rain here…I’m off to pick green beans for our lunch (before the skies open again). xoxo
green beans for lunch? from your garden? i am so jealous. there’s nothing like farm to table. can’t wait to hear about your tomatoes.
xoxo beth
Pretty–and I like that the red and white is predominant, and the blue is subtle. This (what I call) cadmium red’s a great color on you!
Your Georgia meanderings sound fun. Happy 4th!
hi sue!
i am sooooo behind on answering comments on the blog. but here i am. isn’t this a pretty shade of red? one of the colors i gravitate towards. hope you had a terrific 4th!
