weather alert, weather alert. it’s been three whole days since we’ve seen rain in this neck of the woods! i just might have to throw a party! it’s been cloudy and overcast but no rain. which means we are slowly starting our backyard landscape renovation. the first step, tree removal. slowly but surely changes are being made to the inside and outside of our home. there will be future blog posts dedicated to the transformation once completed. two rooms are 90% complete: what is now called the YouTube/study and the kitchen. but back to our regularly scheduled program.
when the weather heats up, it’s time to haul out my jean skirts. while a white denim pencil skirt is hanging in my closet last seen here and here there’s been a recent addition with this cute a-line with a button front. plus, there are patch pockets on the front and back to add some character.

and who can resist a skirt with pockets?! “not i,” said the little red hen. this particular skirt was purchased at my local j.crew mercantile store. but this skirt from nordstrom is comparable.
it looks as if i can’t resist these animal print sling-backs purchased from j.crew last summer. similar ones here and here. the gold lucite heel and cap toe really make these shoes sing.
i added a belt with gold grommets for a little extra zing. similar here and here.
the utter simplicity of this black and white color scheme is what makes this ootd timeless and classic. but the belt, slingbacks, and seed bead earrings keep it looking fresh and modern.
a black bateau neck tee is also a favorite silhouette of mine. talbots always have a fantastic selection of staples like this. if there’s a sale, i’ll swoop in and stock up.
mr. style couldn’t resist this photo setting and asked me to strike a pose (maybe several). and i happily obliged as i’m pretty stoked it’s hump day! we’re half-way through the week, ladies.

Amazing look! So classy! Love the black belt!
hi amy! belts are such a great way to accessorize and some personality.

LOVE the shoes — it’s my favorite way to incorporate animal print in my wardrobe.
so smart to add a dose of animal print in with shoes! and there are so many fab animal prints shoes out there.

Nice clean lines and interesting accents. Those shoes always get me compliments and they are very comfortable. I love ’em, too. I have a white denim skirt, that same top and those shoes. I’ve worn them to lunch and could probably honestly get away with this during the summer at work! I’m lucky that i’m in a laid back environment for work, especially during summer months. Great look!
hey style sister! these shoes have been my go-to’s from day one. but they work with so many outfits. i hope you are enjoying your summer. i’m guessing you are not traveling nearly so much. which has to be a nice change of pace! the summer days are racing by but i’m trying to relish each one. xoxo
Really cute ootd! Mr. Style caught some nice shots! Happy Hump Day to you, too!
hi terry! mr. style does an excellent job from behind the lens. i’m so lucky to have him not only as my husband but as my fab photographer.
xoxo
Beautiful outfit. Casual but, yet, elegant as always. Love it! Nice pictures too.
