Happy Thursday! Today I want to highlight another one of my favorite brands with a Brand Focus on Madewell. If you’ve been following my posts over the last year you will know I have quite a love of Madewell’s shoes and handbags, and I regularly feature separates as well. Dresses from Madewell can be tricky for us petites, since they don’t offer many styles in petite sizing. But don’t let this discourage you, I don’t. With mini dresses being so on trend, Madewell offers many styles that will usually fit just above my knees, which works out perfectly. Take this Plissé Mini Tee Dress, for instance; I am wearing a regular size 0.

I love the casual yet sophisticated look of plissé, and this style of tee dress can be dressed up or down with ease. Another bonus is I can wear this dress, as I have done today with tall boots and a blazer for winter, but it will be great for all seasons.

Madewell’s aesthetic is geared towards classic styles in new and on-trend cuts and silhouettes. Think boxier silhouettes in tops and jackets. This can be challenging for petites. But I have had good luck with ordering a size down. Not just that, but because they are on top of trends, many tops are cropped, which in regular sizing means a cropped top will hit a petite at around the natural waist – a good strategy to remember when ordering regular sizes!

When it comes to denim, Madewell is hard to beat for classic and trending styles at very good prices. This is the area in which Madewell offers the most options in petite sizes. One of my favorite styles that fits like a dream are the Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Jeans. The 90s Straight Jean is another classic style available in a variety of washes.
