Happy Thursday! I do wear dresses in the colder months, but as soon as the weather begins to warm up, I love to bring out all my spring and summer dresses! (It was actually pretty chilly the day we shot these photos, LOL!) I lead a pretty casual life, so while I am calling this An Everyday Spring Dress, I would likely wear this dress on a date night, or as my Easter outfit; it's perfect for the office, or just out and about shopping. If you’re looking to add to your casual go-to dress collection, the Gamine Shirtdress is a great option!

Shirtdresses are probably my favorite type of dress; I like the button-up styles because they are easy to take on and off. This dress in particular, is styled after one of my favorite button-up shirts, the Gamine Shirt from J.Crew. The patch pockets and cuffed sleeves make it more of a utility dress – it feels casual yet put-together.
This dress does not come in petite sizes, so it is a little longer on me than shown on the model. A fun fashion hack that we petites can take advantage of is shopping regular-sized mini dresses, knowing they will hit slightly above our knees.
Though this dress is a straight shift dress silhouette, it does seem to have some shape to the hip area, which runs a little big on my frame. (This would be perfect if you have hips or are more of a pear shape.) Customer reviews say the fit is slightly big, I wouldn’t size down though, because I think the fit in the shoulders and the bust is perfect. I have a 34-inch bust and I am wearing size 0.
The fabric, stretch twill, is a heavier cotton consisting of 97% cotton and 3% elastane. It’s smooth and soft, very comfortable.
I liked the styling of the Gamine Shirtdress on the J.Crew website, so I purchased the Layne Ankle-Strap Heels the model was wearing with this dress, knowing that the embossed snake print would go perfectly with so many items in my closet.
And with the warmer weather, I get to break out my collection of wicker and woven handbags! The Bembien Marfa Bag is a classic. I have had this bag (that I purchased at J.Crew) for about 8 years. The good news is, J.Crew still carries this bag! It is absolutely worth the investment.
