if you’ve been following along with me here at style at a certain age then you know i have a style uniform. for those of you fairly new around here you might ask “what, exactly, is a style uniform?” well, it is an outfit that you can count on day in and day out. it’s a formula that relies on classic essentials most of us have in our closet.
for me, blazers, tees, flats, denim, and a scarf give me a polished but casual look that can take me to the dentist or lunch with a friend. it also enables me to squeeze in a quick walk around the block with oscar if necessary thanks to my shoe choice. and it’s an outfit that takes all of five minutes to put together. but when i step out the door i feel confident and chic. isn’t that what an outfit should do for you?
has anyone noticed i’ve been on a red shoe kick lately? in my humble opinion, every woman should own at least one pair of red shoes. they’re a great way to infuse color into your outfit and are the perfect companion to black and white. or navy, or pink, or orange, or… fill in the blank. since my tee has a pop of red on it, i knew red flats were the perfect choice for today’s ootd. but the star of my style uniform has to be this knit blazer. today, i’ve dressed it down with blue jeans. but it was last seen here with a plaid skirt. don’t you just love an item that’s versatile?
so remember, a style formula can be as easy as 1.2.3. when you rely on the classics.

I am loving your classic style with a trendy twist. For about a year I have been following fashion bloggers and have made the mistake of jumping into trends that are just too young for me. Yet, I know I have pieces in my closet that will do this classic/trendy thing….now to get Beth to come and put the outfits together!! Perfect fall combination. I agree about red shoes–they’re fun, and especially in weather when we tend to pull out the neutrals and colors that aren’t as bright. They add a nice punch of color.
