fridays with oscar
hooray for the weekend. i don’t know about you, but this girl is pooped! in a good way. the second week of gym attendance is now complete, and i feel great. i’ve decided to knock out a workout first thing in the morning, so the alarm’s been going off at 5am… and let me tell you, athens is really dark at that time of day. once i have one month in the books i’ll cut back to 4x a week at orange theory and add 1x pilates reformer class. at some point, i’d like my routine to have 4x endurance, strength, and power classes, 1x yoga class and 1x reformer class for flexibility. but so far, so good with an average of 400 – 500 calories burned and my heart rate reaching the orange zone 40% of class time. i am tuckered out toward evening as my body adjusts to the early morning workout, and just plain working out again. but it’s a good sort of tired.
before i head on up to nyc, mr. style and i are taking our favorite german shepherd to the local frozen yogurt joint for a little treat. the temps were in the high nineties today, so it was a welcome surprise for oscar! this denim dress last seen here is back in stock which i know will make some of you happy. denim is an excellent choice any time of year but is ideal come fall. i might have gotten away with a size eight but i sized up to a ten for a looser fit, and i’m not sorry i did. have you seen the new iris apfel collection with INC? it’s pretty darn cute! a pair of cheetah loafers is ideal to wear when out and about with oscar, but i didn’t forget to add a few accessories for pizazz. a silver bracelet and tassel necklace will do nicely. don’t forget, next week it’s all about #NYFW. join me for behind the scenes action on snapchat. my handle over there is styleatacertain. but don’t worry, i’ll be posting what i wear to the shows and cocktail party here on the blog. the action starts bright and early on sunday morning when mr. style drops me off at hartsfield.

I have just placed my order for this dress. It needs me. Or. I need it. Anyway… yes, I noticed your hair! I had mine like yours for a couple of years and now I am letting it grow, but you make it want it like that again!

nikki! you won’t be sorry you ordered this dress. i love mine. but what’s not to love about a denim dress?! don’t cut your hair. that’s a lot of work to grow it out, so enjoy the longer length for awhile. you can always chop it off down the road.

It’s amazing what shoes do. I know it’s a fact but it still amazes me. I got my dress and had to try it on immediately. I had on workout clothes which I removed, but I didn’t remove my socks and shoes. I hated the dress. I knew it would look different when I put on proper shoes and added jewelry, but I just didn’t think it was going to work for me. Later after supper and shower, I got my favorite wedges and put the dress on again. TA-DA! It’s all cute and date worthy now!
I like the loafers with that dress! Looks cute. And Oscar is such a sweetheart–he really does look like he has a great temperament. Looking forward to your NYFW reports! Knock ’em dead! This is a great time of year to head to the city.
oscar is such an amazing dog! we’ve been lucky and had a string of amazing dogs, but oscar is so noble and so loving and is mr. style’s best friend. i’m so excited to be visiting one of my kiddos. and we both know how fab nyc is especially this time of year. it’s going to be a great week!

i am determined to be a regular at the gym again! i already feel sooooo much better. this was the one piece missing from my life, but it’s back, baby. new york in the fall? it’s going to be a great week!
