as you can see from the photos, spring has arrived here in athens, ga. it may be several weeks ahead of schedule, considering the temps have been unseasonably warm. i’m loving all of the buds bursting into blooms. the birds are singing, and a few mosquitos have buzzed by my ear (time for a target run to buy mosquito repellent)although i’m not certain if they are as large as those that reside in minnesota. the land of ten thousand lakes claims the mosquito as their state bird! and there are other critters big and small roaming around our neighborhood. if you’ve scrolled through all of the photos you noticed, 3rd photo from the bottom, a snake that was sunning on a little bridge quite close to home! ugh. it’s been years since i’ve seen one that large up close and personal, going back to our days in houston… and that’s been quite all right with me. one of our neighbors in the lone star state (a native all of a size 4) upon sighting a snake would grab her shovel and chop the head off. impressive. me? i scream and run, as fast as i can. which was just what oscar and i did. guess who’s going to have their eyes darting back and forth, focused on the ground for quite some time in the coming weeks.
snakes or no snakes, oscar and i wish each of you a lovely weekend!
