there are certain colors that you see me wear on a consistent basis. basically, my core color palette is based on neutrals – white, brown, black and navy. it’s the same principal as having wardrobe staples. i can mix and match the items in my closet until the cows come home. once your core is in place it’s so easy to bring in accent shades that give that wow factor, and add variety. today’s ootd is all about blue. a solid blue shirt gives me the opportunity to play with pattern. which i’ve done with my skirt. and since the skirt was trimmed in green that was my cue to add an olive linen sweater as the statement color. notice how i’ve reinforced the blue/green color scheme with a jade bracelet and earrings. even my statement necklace has pops of green in it. see how easy it is to keep your wardrobe interesting? but i’ve taken the liberty of snapping a few photos sans sweater. what do you think? the skirt and blouse can definitely fly solo. so are you wondering how to go about building a wardrobe color palette? start with the neutrals since they go with everything – pick four. then ask yourself what colors are you most drawn to? pick two or three of those accent colors that will perk up your color palette. see how easy it is to build a color wheel for your closet? start small then begin to expand. and maybe this is a subject i can explore in more detail – like my closet organization post. stay tuned!

for those of you asking for more photos of my hair, i’ve been meaning to devote a post strictly to my haircut, products, etc… but for now, there are two photos in today’s post that give a side view. this mop is finally getting back some length! last january, when chico’s flew me out to l.a. to work on the ‘hello i’m fabulous’ campaign they asked to cut my hair short. and boy-oh-boy did they mean short! it was a darling cut, but it’s taken all this time to get it back to the length i prefer. and, in the future i think you’ll see me go even longer. but thank you for all of the comments and compliments about my hair!
