While winter still has us in its chilly embrace, the idea of tropical vacation is a fond daydream. For many of us it may not be just a daydream. Maybe you’re planning a vacation to the tropical environs of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The Yucatan has a lot to offer, both on the northern gulf side and the Caribbean east side. Today we are taking a sun-drenched vacation with What to See and Wear on a Yucatan Vacation.
On the northern tip, facing the Gulf of Mexico you have Holbox (pronounced: hol-bosh). Holbox is more rustic than a typical resort-type destination; famous for its bioluminescent waters, whale sharks and flamingos, Holbox provides a real island-life experience with delicious food. Since it’s less touristy than many beach towns, accommodations and dining are reasonably priced.
Of course, you have the resort city of Cancรบn; and farther down the peninsula you have Cozumel, Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Centrally located, the famous Mayan ruins of Chichรฉn-Itzรก are within a bus or car ride from destinations in the north and east.
