One of the best ways I have discovered some of my absolute favorite makeup and skincare products to try is honestly by scrolling the internet and social media. So today, I'm sharing 6 beauty products trending on social media.
I of course prefer finding out about new products from listening to trusted friends and family, but, sometimes I do fall trap into buying whatever the latest and “seemingly” greatest products are that are promoted on YouTube, Instagram, and even listening to my favorite podcasts!
Fun Fact, I used to have my own podcast about the business of makeup and product reviews! But then it got to be one extra thing I couldn’t keep up with, even though I enjoyed it. Maybe one day I’ll bring it back to life! Would love to hear if you listen to podcasts?
So anyway, sometimes those popular products sadly don’t live up to the hype. But then again, sometimes they truly DO.
I find my phone and my computer that I spend so much time on can be a blessing and a curse when it comes to researching what the next latest and greatest beauty item is that I need…excuse me…WANT!
So for today’s post, I am going to fill you in on which of the more recent popular products that have gone viral, that I have ended up purchasing that truly work. These are the ones I believe have effectively changed my makeup + skincare routine for the BETTER.
No need to focus on the negative ones that fell flat - we are staying on the positive side of the internet today!
Today, Jennifer is sharing 6 beauty products trending on social media
From serums to firming creams and more, these items have taken Instagram by storm
All of the items listed are shoppable inline or through an image-widget
The Breakthrough Drugstore Pro-Aging Miracle Serum. L’Oreal Midnight Serum, $44. It’s been labeled the more affordable, but just as effective, version of the iconic Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. They even have similar brown glass bottles with medicine dropper applicators. But honestly, I love the L’Oreal version more. It smells delightful and not medicine-y like the EL one, and it WORKS.
This serum replenishes antioxidant levels at night (when our skin is most receptive to repair) to smooth wrinkles, firm skin & improve radiance. It does all of that with continuous use. I’m literally obsessed with this skincare product.
The Magic Magic Melt. e.l.f. Holy Hydration Makeup Melting Cleaning Balm, $11. I have lost count how many of these tubs of cleansing balms I have purchased! It removes ALL of my makeup, even the waterproof kind. The internet loves loves this mega affordable e.l.f. line, and rightfully so!
But besides the affordable price tag, it’s powerful but gentle at the same time and leaves my skin feeling baby smooth after removal. It contains Hyaluronic Acid which I cannot get enough of with my dry mature skin! Highly recommend it next time you want to try a new makeup remover.
Neck + Chest Cream. Gold Bond Firming Cream for Neck + Chest, $12. Ladies, if you aren’t using your anti-aging creams down your neck and chest, you’re not doing things right! Our necks and chest are two very telltale parts of our body that show aging quickly due to their lack of oil glands. So we need to pay extra special attention to them.
I bathe in this Gold Bond stuff. With the inclusion of salicylic acid to help exfoliate and slough off dead skin cells, it creates a smoother and more hydrated extension of our faces! My next purchase with be their Crepe Eraser Cream, $12, which has over 20K almost 5 star ratings and reviews!!
Longwear Liquid Blush. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Blush, $23. Social media outlets have been freaking out over this liquid blush for over a year now, and rightfully so. It’s been difficult for them to keep their shades in stock it’s so popular! You have to work quickly with this liquid blush, but once it’s on, it stays better than any other cream blush I own and is very lightweight so you feel like you have nothing on. Super pigmented, so you only need to start with a tiny drop and work on building from there.
I have found I HAVE to use their cream blush brush for the best application bc my fingers make all cream blushes seem streaky. My favorite shades are JOY (bright peach - their website says muted, but it’s not muted at all in my opinion!) and ENCOURAGE (wearable soft neutral pink.).
The Flawless Foundation. Makeup By Mario Surreal Skin foundation, $42 . Mario Dedivanovic is no stranger to the internet. He is one of THE most sought-after celebrity makeup artists of all time, just check out his Instagram feed. His branded makeup line on Sephora, is getting rave reviews and his latest foundation formula is absolutely GORGEOUS.
I wear shade 5N and couldn’t be more in love with the radiant finish it gives to my skin. It’s described as “a breathable, luminous foundation that effortlessly builds and blends to illuminate the complexion with customizable, long-wearing coverage.” I would second all of this!!! It’s fantastic for mature skin ladies and doesn’t leave you with a heavy cake face, but it covers nicely.
IT Mascara OF The Moment. L’Oreal Telescopic Lift, $14. I’d be shocked if you haven’t heard all of the hullabaloo surrounding this newest formula of mascara from L’Oreal. You can’t get away from someone talking about it on YouTube shorts, TikTok, and Instagram - it’s been all over the place! I was hesitant because I feel like there’s a new “great” mascara out every week, so how good can it really be??
Well, I am a fan of this one. It took a little to figure out how to use the wand, but once I got the hang of it, it delivers mega-long and lifted lashes! I’m a fan.
Let me know what you thought of this post and if you’d like to hear my opinion again on more viral beauty and skincare products and if they’re any good or not?? I’d love to keep trying things out so you don’t have to! Which one of the above are you going to try next? I’ve got quite a few more I could talk about.

I absolutely LOVE the Midnight Serum. I use it twice a day, morning and night! The cleansing balm is also awesome, I just wish they made a bigger jar. It’s so tiny 🙁 I also like the Banila Co. Clean it Zero that comes in a huge 6oz jar (Amazon). Might have to try the other items, especially the mascara!!!
Linda, oh I feel the SAME they do really need to double the size of that elf tub of the balm! do try some of my other suggestions – would love to hear your thoughts if you do!
Ohhhh. Just found out Walgreens has buy 2 get one free on the ELF cleansing balm!!!
I’m going to give all of these a try! I love to try new products and with your research how can I go wrong? Thanks Jennifer!!
Hey Donna – You’ve got my personal experience on all of these products. Would love to know if you try one or more out!
I always enjoy your beauty posts, Jennifer! I’ll be trying out the Rare Beauty blush and by Mario foundation. I would love to have your opinion on the clean beauty brand St. Jane products. I’m currently using the lip oil and I’m impressed.
Thanks Nancy. Both of those products I have been so happy with – it’s hard to find a liquid blush that’s longwear and this Rare Beauty one sure impressed me! I’m actually not familiar with St. Jane products – so you’ve introduced me to a new brand I need to research!
Love hearing about new products to try and how you like them!! I am currently using the Elf cleansing balm and I love it as well. I am going to try a few of the other ones that you mentioned. Wondering if you have tried the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Blush wands or the Highlighter wands? I was thinking of trying them but not sure if they are good for mature skin.
Hey Ellen! I haven’t tried the matte wands but the highlighter ones are lovely. It’s hard for me to dislike anything Charlotte tilbury does!
Jennifer,
Love your posts!
Can you send me the one where you went over the 5 (I think) products you have used for aging skin?
I know Cerave cleanser was one, but I never finished the rest of your post. Thanks so much!!
