Thanksgiving Day is number 1, 2, or 3…right up there with Christmas, Hanukkah, or Wedding celebrations!! Sharing one’s home, beautiful day, meal, and festive table creates memories that can last a lifetime.

Breaking bread together is a special bond… you and your guests supply the lively conversation!
Creating and sharing the intimacy of family, friendship and love are truly some of the greatest pleasures of life….especially in our fast, wild world of 2023!!
How beautiful to make this event as gorgeous, warm, welcoming, and memorable as possible!!
We never know how long we are on this earth; let’s live it to the fullest, every way we can!
Now, we turn to entertaining’s finishing touches….
Setting the table is one of the last preparations…and one of the most pleasurable!! I adore this little drawing of what goes where. I am adding a few notes. A charger is lovely to include. It is larger than a dinner plate and was first used so the dinner guest was never without a plate at the table when courses were being cleared. Today, its purpose is more of a colorful, decorative accent, placed beneath the dinner plate. The coffee cup and saucer may be omitted, as dessert and coffee typically come after dinner, and sometimes, even enjoyed in another room.
Thanksgiving is also a great time to share your knowledge of entertaining with younger generations. In addition to what goes where when setting the table, and since family dining has changed so much; let’s make dining appropriately fun and give confidence. Manners and table etiquette are certainly not taught in school. As young adults grow up, are guests, begin to entertain on their own, and enter the business world, these skills will be even more appreciated! Aren’t we all teachers at some point? Didn’t we learn from our mother’s, aunts, and friends’ mothers too?
