Hello, Ladies! I am back this week with another Matching Separates Summer Outfit. Last week I shared a matching skirt set; today I am wearing a matching shorts set. Just like a skirt set, a matching linen shorts set will give you bang for your buck when it comes to styling different ensembles for summer. I love this set because while it’s casual and comfortable, it can be dressed up a little more with accessories.

Matching Linen Shorts Set

The combination of these separates is such a comfortable outfit – especially for summer! This set is a linen blend so the pieces have the feel of linen, but they don’t wrinkle as easily. The top and bottoms are from Banana Republic Factory and I like the set so much that I purchased the linen shorts and the Dolman top in red stripe.

Pull-on linen shorts are so popular this summer; in fact, pull-on style bottoms in general have made such a huge impact on fashion in the past few years. It may have taken me a minute to get on board, I admit, but this summer is all about the pull on bottoms!

How to Accessorize to Elevate a Linen Shorts Set

A pair of slide sandals keeps this outfit perfectly casual for lounging around or running errands, while sneakers give this outfit a more sporty look. I decided to take this casual outfit up a notch with Lace-Up Mid-Heel Espadrilles. This would be a cute outfit for a lunch date with my husband, or maybe out shopping with Beth. I am a casual dresser in everyday life, so it feels really good and special to add something simple like a cute heeled sandal to give this outfit a little boost, while still feeling relaxed and functional.

My handbag is a few years old from J.McLaughlin, and while I hoped they’d bring it back around, they have not. I did find a couple of bags that I think would be really cute and add contrast, like this Peony Seagrass Tote or this Raffia Handbag. 

Make the Most of Matching Separates

I have fully embraced the matching sets trend because I love the versatility and bang for my buck for the many outfits I can create with a matching set. Plus, I love the look of rompers, but as a petite, it’s hard to find rompers that fit my proportions correctly, so a matching shorts set is the perfect solution. 

Recently I mixed up my red stripe linen shorts set for a couple of daily looks.
