How Kelly Is Decorating For Fall

Hello, great to see you. Today I am sharing how I’m decorating for Fall. Our summer decorating stays up for a while, I don’t really have decor for summer holidays. So I enjoy when mid-October rolls around and it’s time to change out the faux foliage and bring out the Halloween decor.

We don’t have a ton of storage space in our home, so I don’t go all out for seasonal decorating. Just a few easy-to-store, easy-to-display decor pieces that are fun and help set the scene for the season.

I have selected three areas of the house that we spend the most time in to focus my decorating. The front yard and entryway, the kitchen, and the mantle in the living room.

The Summary

How Kelly Is Decorating For Fall

Festive Front Yard

The ghost is a slightly creepy Halloween decoration that I place in a different spot each year, its eyes light up with a blue glow. It’s fun, but subtle. I like it because it feels festive but isn’t over the top. The creepy ghost is from Grandin Road and it’s a few years old. It’s sold out already this year, but they bring it back every year, so keep your eyes out for it starting in August/September.

The dragon tail yard decoration is old, but Grandin Road Brings it back every year. I like it because for any neighborhood kids; it’s more whimsical than scary.

Flame Lighted Pumpkins illuminate my front step with their flickering flame light. With the timer setting, you can set the lights to flicker on when the sun goes down.

The Gothic Skull and Spanish Moss wreath is from two years ago, but Grandin Road has some similar versions that range from cute and festive to creepy and Gothic.

2. Eerie Entryway

The entryway urn filler matches the wreath on the front door. Southern Gothic with light-colored faux foliage, skulls, twigs and Spanish Moss. At the beginning of the halloween decorating season you can often find coordinating wreaths and urn fillers at Grandin Road.

3. Spooky Mantle

I swap in creepy black faux foliage for halloween and then once the holiday is over, I change it to something less creepy and more Autumnal. But until then, I really like the look of the black foliage. I have Black Chinese Lanterns, the other stems are sold out, but I think these Black Eucalyptus Stems would look great.

The Black Crows are a fun addition. This set is from Amazon. They have wire on their feet so you can position them in different places.

Rounding out my mantle decor are black metal Jack-O-Lantern Candle Holders from Pottery Barn. These are the mini size. The gold-colored interior reflects the flickering candlelight beautifully.

4. Creepy Kitchen

In the kitchen, I have a couple more black metal Jack-O-Lantern Candle Holders. A large-sized jack-o-lantern sits atop my cookbook shelf; along with my Mexican Terracotta Candelabra. A middle-sized jack-o-lantern finds its home on my custom lazy susan. For a festive, autumnal look, I have faux fall aspen branches

Decor Tip

You don’t have to buy new faux foliage decor every year to keep your foliage decor fresh. One thing I like to do is rearrange my vases and containers, swapping their locations and then changing which set of stems goes in which vase. Different colors can really change the way a room feels, so play with your decor and mix things up each time you bring out your stored seasonal decor for a fresh take on your old classics.
