get the most out of your travel wardrobe
yesterday, we took a look at the components that make up a weekend getaway wardrobe: blazer, tee (old, similar here), blouse, shorts, denim, and two pairs of shoes: sneakers and sandals (old, similar here). there are endless ways to create outfits from these wardrobe staples for day or night. but let’s take it a step farther and get the most out of your travel wardrobe.
an evening look
yesterday, i wore an ootd geared towards daytime. today, i’ve put together a casual yet chic outfit that’s perfect for evening. since sneakers go with everything these days from skirts, shorts, and denim. it’s safe to say a pair of tennies would look adorable with the outfit as well as the sandals.
the peaked lapel gives this blazer a decidedly old-school vibe. think the seventies, ladies. but the white frayed denim keeps this outfit planted firmly in the twenty-first century. and the black and white color scheme works no matter the day or year. it’s classic and timeless.
the pockets are trimmed with faille detailed with gilded buttons.

a tweed blazer
a tweed blazer is a must-have in my wardrobe and many others around the world. Coco Chanel is the one credited with discovering the functionality of tweed fabric. in fact, the Chanel jacket has become one of the most iconic and classic pieces in fashion.
as with many of her designs, Coco “borrowed from the boys,” incorporating the traditional tweed jacket favored by the upper class for country sportswear. the original Chanel jacket is structured to look like a cardigan. but what i love about this particular tweed blazer is the tailored fit. it has a longer length and double-breasted front. the faille trim (it’s a silvery-white) adds pizzazz. and you can wear this blazer buttoned with a cami tucked underneath or unbuttoned as in today’s ootd.
fringe details on denim are going strong in 2020.

Love this look! Beth you asked a while back about your hair length. I did not comment wanted to see more pics with your new longer length. I have concluded that not very many ladies can wear your short style and it suits you. You look great whatever you choose.
I agree with Susan, Beth. This length or the shorter version suit you. Longer would drag you down. The only difference between the really short and this, is that the really short is an edgy look and probably higher maintenance, while this length is feminine and probably easier maintenance. While going grey, I wore both styles and for me at least my hair didn’t appreciate the constant wash/dry and It was harder to keep healthy. In the end, as my long term trusted stylist told me, follow your heart and choose what makes you feel your best. 🥂
Great blazer. I went to go look at it from the link to see if it’s lined. Excellent–it is! Things hang so much nicer if they’re lined. I love how a blazer can instantly add chic to a simple casual look.
