today, oscar and i are on a reconnaissance mission. it’s time to start planning our garden.
three cheers for the weekend! oscar and i are kicking it off today with a little sight-seeing excursion. landscape plans for our backyard are in the works, but it’s always a good idea to visit pre-existing gardens. then you can see plants in all their glory and what works and maybe what doesn’t.
a trip to lowe’s is planned later in the day either early morning or late in the day as it’s going to be another scorcher here in georgia. but i couldn’t resist wearing my new suede shoes.
these slides/mules are by sam edelman. it might be hard to see from the photo, but there are tiny grommets that line the outside sole. i particularly like the fact they hug your foot and have a sturdy heel. when you’re on the move all day that’s an important factor. kind of excited to wear these babies with cropped denim or skinny jeans once the temps slide back down from sultry.
today, i’ve thrown a striped gauze button-up over a tee for a little extra oomph. if it gets too hot later in the day all i have to do is remove a layer. a dark rinse denim skirt with a side placket is new to my closet. it’s by loft. but it’s sleek and simple and is certain to become a workhorse in my closet. it will look smashing with an oversized turtleneck, tights and boots. can you tell i have fall on my mind?

sam edelman always has the cutest booties! there was even a gucciesque pair of loafers that caught my eye. it’s always dangerous to wander into the shoe department.

yes, there are ads popping up as we are testing advertising partners on the blog. if the ads are too distracting you can enable an ad blocker. but this is one way to offset the costs associated with running a blog.

Nice mules! I love the color–they’ll be great come fall, too. I love a good denim skirt and they truly are season-spanning. I am on the fence–wishing summer would stay for a while longer, but anxious for fall temps and for cozy sweaters and tights weather! enjoy the weekend!
I have combined today’s look and yesterday’s with a blue pinstripe shirt dress that ties at the waist. I’m not sure how I wandered into a store that never has my size (but did), or how it was on final markdown (a classic, not a fad). But there you go. I was thinking how nice it would be to have a shirt dress again and there it was.
Adding my vote on those slides! They are very nice. You’re making me want a pair though my podiatrist tells me I need shoes that will keep my food stationary.
