Do you read actual paper magazines anymore?? I still get the Allure Magazine and have had a subscription for over 10 years…at-least! Maybe more. I can’t say I make the time to read every single issue that comes in the mail from front to back, with the EXCEPTION of this specific issue and their Reader’s Choice Awards issue. So today, I want to review the best beauty products from 2022.
The Best of Beauty awards are chosen by their individual editors, with over 345 beauty product awards given! Whereas the Reader’s Choice awards are chosen by, well , their readers! I must say, I PREFER the reader’s choice products because I feel they’re probably not swayed by brands paying to be featured in that issue, but that’s just my guess.
Either way, this recent October issue recently arrived and I couldn’t wait to see what I already owned that was chosen. And of course what NEW items I needed to look into trying for myself!
Today, Jennifer is sharing the best beauty products from 2022

They chose a couple of shadow palettes that I absolutely use weekly!! The first is the most affordable, the Tarte Tartlette In Bloom palette that shows you that “neutrals” and the word “boring" don’t belong in the same sentence! It contains the best mix of matte and shimmer shadows that seriously work for every eye color!
They also mentioned the Tom Ford Eye Color quads which are quite pricey. I own the shade “Suspicion" and I didn’t want to like it because it’s SO expensive in my opinion, but alas, I do love it! The pigments are rich, go on so beautifully and they come in so many great color combinations. Truly a luxury makeup product and investment.
I 100% agree with Allure’s choice for the best concealer for under-eyes. It’s the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Concealer. This formula is pigmented enough to cover the darkest circles yet lightweight enough that it doesn’t cake up or crease, especially for mature under eyes like I have. Right now my personal perfect shade is 215 Neutral Buff.
This particular skin product has been around for years and years and I use it for setting my makeup but also a lot for turning eyeshadow into eyeliner! The MAC Fix+ Setting Spray is super soothing because of the green tea and cucumber extract plus it’s a gentle fine mist. It also works great as a midday makeup refresher!
They gave awards for cream and powder blush formulas, but then also they gave the award to this liquid blush that I swear by! It’s the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush that gives the most healthy flush of color that sinks beautifully into the skin. But disclaimer - you have to work fast to blend it in because it has MAJOR staying power! I’m wearing shade JOY in these photos today that’s a soft peach.
Lastly, they gave this product the Breakthrough Award. It’s the Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lip color that you can get at the drugstore.
Guess what, I bought it a while ago and wasn’t that impressed with the staying power which is what is known for. But it was because of user error- ME! I didn't realize you were supposed to SHAKE the tube up to mix the long-wear pigment with the emollient silicone formula before using it. Now that I’m using it correctly, I'm definitely going to buy more shades! It’s a great blend of long wear and a bit of shine together - which doesn’t happen often!
Now I’m curious, which one of these Allure Best of Beauty products are you going to want to try now??
