NSale Try-On Haul: CeCe Print Scallop Shirt
This CeCe Print Scallop Shirt is really feminine with its scallop collar and sleeve detail. The color combination of dark green and navy is one of my favorites. This top dresses up easily with slacks or a pencil skirt, but I also love how its sweet details dress up a pair of jeans.

This Vince Open Knit Johnny Collar Polo Sweater was on sale, though not part of the Anniversary Sale, but it seems to be full price online (?). I have collected a few similar alternatives that are on sale:

NSale Try-On Haul: Cashmere Short Sleeve Sweater
One of the biggest issues for me (as a petite) is that the store almost never has my size when we shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in person. I tried this Nordstrom cashmere short-sleeved sweater anyway, to get a sense of the feeling of Nordstrom cashmere. This is a size small, while I would go for an XS. The cashmere is soft and feels wonderful, but this did not come home with me because of the size. Unfortunately, it’s already sold out, so I can’t get it in my size, but there is a similar version with the Vince Wool & Cashmere Short-Sleeved Sweater.

Nic+Zoe Textured Stripe Cardigan
I really like a stripe! This Nic+Zoe Textured Stripe Cardigan works as a top, as I am wearing it here, but it works great as a cardigan for a second layer. The patch pockets on the front give it an elevated Lady Jacket look. The fabric is soft and feels expensive. I am trying a small here, and I think I would stick with a small so I could wear it as a cardigan and/or a top. If worn as top, the buttons might create a gape at the chest if I went with my usual size XS. Online I found a short sleeve sweater version that I quite like, so I have ordered the Textured Stripe T-Shirt Sweater – and it’s a great deal, at $89 versus $134 after the sale.

NSale Try-On Haul: Caslon Bouclé Bomber Jacket
Beth and I both tried on this Caslon Bouclé Bomber Jacket. I really liked it even though it’s not petite. What stopped me from pulling the trigger was the sleeves were a little long and while the elasticized cuffs kept the sleeves from creeping down my hand, the extra fabric in the sleeves felt a little bulky. But if that doesn’t bother you, the bouclé is beautiful and gives the style an elevated twist. Overall, it’s a beautiful jacket in a classic style that feels current.

Varley Mesh Stripe Half-Zip Top
I want to love Varley so much! My only problem with this brand is that they don’t make petite sizes. Their styles are more athleisure-focused so the fits are meant to be slightly oversized, which on a petite can look too big (in my opinion). For me, this Mesh Stripe Half-Zip Top would be a winner, but the short sleeves hit right at the elbow, which felt awkward. This is a very personal assessment because the sleeves are meant to hit right the elbows. Beth loves this brand and if you love it too, or just want to try it out, now’s the time because the sale prices are really good! This top is $80 on sale, and $120 after the sale.

NSale Try-On Haul
1. Look for cropped jackets and cardigans—they’ll naturally hit the right spot on petite frames.
2. Pay attention to shoulder seams and sleeve lengths; petite sizing makes all the difference.
3. Midi or mini skirts in flowy fabrics are a petite-friendly secret weapon—just add a heeled boot.
4. Monochrome outfits help elongate your frame—especially in neutral or tonal shades.
5. Try block heels or platform sneakers for extra height without sacrificing comfort.
NSale Try-On Haul: AllSaints Fleur Handkerchief Hem Dress
Each time we shop the Nordstrom anniversary sale in-store, I am always looking for a dress. It’s rare that I find one in a regular size that works for petites. This year was the exception! This AllSaints Fleur Handkerchief Hem Dress is meant to be a mini dress (if I go by how the model is wearing it). On me though, it hits just above my knee, which I prefer. I am trying on a size 2, my normal size would be 0, but in my opinion the dress runs small, and so this 2 fits perfectly.

Wide Leg Cotton Stretch Twill Ankle Pants + Striped Tee
These Caslon Wide Leg Cotton Stretch Twill Ankle Pants were chosen for me to try on by our photographer, Jess. I would not have thought to try these on myself, since they are not in petite. But! Because they are meant to be cropped, they hit at my ankle, and I have to say, I quite like them. In fact, I purchased them! They are very comfortable; I love the high waist, the wide leg, and the tall hem. These pants are basically wide-leg chinos and will be perfect for transitioning to fall.

While I didn’t come home with many fashion purchases, I did order some home items. The anniversary sale is a great time to update your bath linens, so I wait for the anniversary sale to purchase higher-end linens that come at a great sale price.

I usually always go for a candle discovery set, and this year I am trying the Apotheke Fragrance Discover Mini Candle Set. Recently, I purchased this Candle Warmer Lamp with Timer, and I loved it so much I bought one for every room in my house! I love ambient lighting and having fresh fragrance in my house. This candle warmer light creates a soft light that is fully dimmable, it’s on a timer, and best of all, I never have to worry that I left a candle burning unattended.
