just like you, i’m embracing the homebody in me. even before shelter-in-place became the new normal, i loved spending time at home. and i’m always looking for ways to spruce up each of the rooms in my house. because if i’m going to while away the hours at home then i might as well love the spaces i create. and while the kitchen or living room might get the bulk of my creative endeavors the bathroom should never be short-changed.
freshening up your powder room, guest bath or even the master bath doesn’t have to break the bank. it can be as simple as adding a soothing candle in your favorite scent. one of my go-to candles any time of year is Nest that infuses my home with a lasting fragrance. another luxury that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg is a bath mat. there are lots of brands to choose from but Matouk gets my vote as their mats are soft and luxurious but dry quickly.

Nordstrom has an amazing selection of Nest candles with scents that range from Moroccan Amber that’s exotic and spicy to Linen Classic that smells like a summer breeze. Nest also offers diffusers and room sprays which are perfect to use in any room but especially the bathroom. i chose Ocean Mist & Sea Salt candle for spring/summer with its refreshing essence of a gentle ocean.
i don’t know about you but i bet you’re just like me and are vigilante with washing your hands. hand soap has become our best friend. choices abound as you can choose a bar of soap to lather up or a special hand wash that won’t disturb your skin’s natural ph balance. L’Occitane offers a gentle non-irritating bar of soap or a cleansing hand wash in lavender. either way we wash our hands we’re certain to need plenty of moisturizing hand lotion.
Matouk carries an assortment of towels, bath mats, sheets, and bedding made with Egyptian cotton known for its long staple.
what’s better than stepping onto a bit luxury in the morning? it’s a great way to start your day. this mat dries quickly and can be tossed into the washing machine for a quick touch up.
many of you noticed my jewelry i wore the other day. a sterling silver heart pendant and love knot sterling silver stud earrings. both are from Lagos and both have that timeless elegance that you can wear with anything from smart casual to cocktail hour. these days i’m decidedly casual. but little touches like a bath refresh or wearing favorite jewelry go a long way to improving my mood. stay well, ladies! and in case you missed, make sure to check out yesterday’s post where we did a deep dive and discussed ways to improve our immune system.
a big thank you toNordstrom for this sponsored post. as i’m embracing the homebody in me, i know you are all too. and thank you lovely readers for supporting those brands.

I love the fish graphic in your bathroom. Can you tell me more about it? Stay safe.
i couldn’t resist the fish swimming in the opposite direction. it’s the story of my life. here’s a link betsey:

You are so brave….
nope, i’m just like the rest of us putting one foot in front of the other. but i do have control over two things: attitude and action. stay well!
I love your posts. But I’m a little confused about the use of hand soap. Although the coronavirus is a virus and not a bacterial illness, should the hand soap have an anti-bacterial component in it? There’s differing information in the media.
i am definitely not a medical expert, maura, so i will direct you to an up-to-date covid-19 site:

Hi Beth – love your blog! I always get inspired when I read the latest ;). I’m trying to update my bathroom and love the little fish artwork you have in yours. Where can I buy that? Adds a bit of humor and lots of color. Love it!
Thanks a lot,
Alyce

I love scents too, but have replaced all my candles with essential oil diffusers. I enjoy learning about all the different oils. Your home is beautiful, love all the bright colors!
oil diffusers are a good choice! thanks so much for stopping by. stay well.
Another great post. Even if we can’t go out, a lot of companies will do deliveries, curb side pickup and of course on line. Most are waiving fees too. We have always used separate bathrooms, feminine/masculine. I love to give my shower a light spritz of perfume. I get migraines, so most candles don’t work, so if someone is like me, and has a scent that does work for them this is an alternative. Spring/summer is coming, and so are fresh flowers for my bathroom. They remind me of the beauty that still abides in people, if they choose.🌷
There is no better time than right now to treat ourselves to little luxuries like scented candles, nice smelling soaps & fluffy towels. Just a reminder, your soap does not need to be antibacterial. My Mrs. Meyers lilac scented soap is just as effective as any other. Thanks for sharing your life & home with us. Stay safe everyone.
The bathroom is cute. What color nail polish are you wearing, love it!
I love your home!! Do you have a link to your navy sofa? Or, maybe information on how to access it?
Thanks so much!!
Be safe!!!!!!!
It’s definitely a good time for organizing and doing things at home, that’s for sure! Love the color in your bathroom. Looks vibrant! Hope you all are managing ok–the news tonight was sobering, and so I am feeling personally very grateful to have a good home to be in.
Beth, my bathroom is the same shade of orange! Great minds…
