FASTer Way to Fat Loss helps us make good, informed food choices and it helps us lose weight fast.
here’s a photo from january 2018. when i had just started FWTFL

if there’s one thing that aging teaches us is that it isn’t for sissies! each decade brings health challenges with it. the clock ticks for all women and with each tick comes change. loss of muscle continues which contributes to weakness and disability. at the same time, our ligaments get stiff and tight and we begin to lose calcium, increasing the risk of osteoporosis. worse we start to gain weight after our fortieth birthday easily putting on 3 – 4 pounds per year. that weight gain plus muscle loss contributes to a rise in LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and a fall in HDL (“good”) cholesterol. yikes!
if you think you’re too old to lose weight fast think again. we’ve been conditioned to think it’s a normal part of aging to carry extra fat around our middle. but being overweight increases your risk of health conditions such as heart problems, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. being overweight can also increase your risk for osteoarthritis (joint disease), sleep apnea (abnormal breathing at night) or other respiratory (breathing) problems.
while no woman can stop the clock we can slow down its tick. exercise is key. using resistance training with weights enhance our muscle mass and preserve bone calcium. flexibility training like Pilates or Yoga helps keep our limbs supple which helps us keep our balance, avoid injuries, and prevent falls that cripple so many of us over fifty. resting is rusting as they say so we have to keep moving with a proper exercise program in place.
but nutrition is just as important as exercise. what i love most about FASTer Way to Fat Loss is that it combines fitness and nutrition into one program. if we want to age with strength and grace we need to adapt both into our lifestyle. yes, FWTFL teaches us to lose weight fast. but it also gives us the tools to restructure and repair our metabolic system and increase our metabolism. through the FASTer Way to Fat Loss, you’ll learn how to fuel your body effectively to maintain optimal energy levels throughout the day. with a macro diet, you’re not meant to be depriving your body; you’re meant to be feeding it ideal nutrition that makes it more efficient and helps it to burn fat.
many of you have asked about intermittent fasting which FASTer Way to Fat Loss incorporates into their program. IF is an eating pattern that cycles between fasting and eating. many people claim it helps to lose weight fast. but to put it, in a nutshell, i have an eight-hour window where i eat all of my meals. typically, i eat my first meal around noon which means my eating window closes at eight pm. sixteen hours of fasting where nothing is consumed but water, tea or coffee/eight hours of eating meals and/or snacks.
here are some benefits of intermittent fasting:
what benefits have i seen over the course of a year and a half? besides how to lose weight fast? i sleep better at night, have increased energy levels, and food has become my friend, not the enemy. i’ve lost inches, gained muscle and feel confident that i can age with strength and grace.

Dear Beth, You are looking wonderful. It is a testament to your inner strength and clarity of thought. Your long term plan to be mindful of your health is inspirational. I know there has been firming and probably strength advantages on the program, but can you tell me please, how much weight have you lost?
hi gayle,
it’s really hard to say how much weight i’ve lost since muscle weighs more than fat. and i didn’t go into this program thinking i need to lose xx amount of pounds. i joined FWTFL because i decided to go on a fitness journey at 59. i knew i wanted to live the last chapter of my life making the right choices when it came to my health. but if you’re interested in living a healthy lifestyle the pounds will come off. and you’ll be feeling like a whole new you.
xo
Beth,
Actually, muscle does NOT weigh more than fat. Pound for pound, they are equal BUT they do not appear the same. Muscle is “tighter” where fat is “loose” so comparatively, muscle has a leaner appearance.😀
ha ha! but muscle tissue is denser than fat tissue, which means that yes it weighs more.
an extra 20 pounds of fat gives a softer, less toned appearance. but an extra 20 pounds of muscle is firm and sculpted. so if i weigh 135 pounds and it’s all fat i might wear a size 8. but if that fat is converted to muscle that same 135-pound body might wear a size 4 or 6.
muscle also serves a different function than fat. fat also insulates the body and traps in body heat. muscle boosts your metabolism. which means the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn when you’re at rest.
hope this helps!
Sounds like a really good, healthy plan. I definitely recognize that eating healthy and well is the key to feeling good. I am very careful about what I eat and it helps me do well with my RA. The old adage “we are what we eat” is very true. I am fortunate that I like and prefer healthy whole foods anyway. And the exercise keeps us feeling strong. Good for you!
i never really got “we are what we eat” until i turned 60. but it’s never too late when it comes to healthy choices. xo
So concerning FWTFL you consider this is a good thing for me since I am over 60. This will help me feel better and help my joints from hurting at times and also take care of the middle that I have around my waist. The cost is what I am worried about because I am afraid I want follow through.
hi dianne,
yes, FWTFL is a very good program that teaches you how to make good nutritious choices. our diet is everything. not going on a diet but what we eat day in and day out. but you have to be commited. if you’re not interested in changing your lifestlye then i wouldn’t bother with this program. but if you are interested in taking control of your health and learning how to be the best you there is then it is worth every penny. because there is no pricetag when it comes to a healthy body and preventing disease. xo
How much weight have you lost and how much can one expect to loose on this plan in a month? You look great so wondering why you are pushing this plan?
i believe in FWTFL because i see month after month how many lives have been transformed by this program. it isn’t so much about losing weight although you definitely will. it’s about learning how important nutrition is and implementing that into our lifestlye. the statistics are shocking as far as how many americans are overweight – roughly 2/3rds of adults. and the rate is growing each year. there has been a huge disconnect when it comes to what we’re eating the past forty years. but with the right diet in place your body will naturally burn fat instead of holding onto it. you won’t believe how good you start to feel eating healthy food.
Beth I have read your posts before and am interested in FWTFL, have about 20lbs to lose, I do Jazzercise which is a great exercise program, I would not want to give that up! I guess I could live with a window of 11 to. 7 as my eating window. Can that window be adjusted if you have something special a later dinner? Is the program difficult to understand?
you can certainly incorporate jazzercise into your FWTFL exercise program. good for you for having a workout you love. as long as you stick to the eight hour eating window you can adjust it according to your lifestyle and what’s going on on any given day. the program is very easy to follow and there’s lot’s of support to answer your questions and keep you on track.
When is the next session after this one I don’t have the money right this second but would really like to do it very soon. Could u email me a schedule ferrislaura7@gmail.com
the next session for FWTFL is September 2nd.
