oscar and i are trying our hand at tailgating this morning. after all, we live in the beautiful college town of athens, ga. home to the georgia bulldogs – go dawgs! and yes, our football season is off to a rocky start with new head coach, kirby smart. but you gotta root for your home team through thick and thin.
this weekend uga plays the florida gators in jacksonville. and it’s anyone’s guess as to who will win because they say florida – georgia is the most unpredictable rivalry in the SEC.
oscar, mr. style and i will be watching the game from the comfort of our family room come saturday. but i couldn’t resist getting into the georgia spirit with a little party for three. you see, this girl is a little rusty in the tailgating department due to living overseas for many years then in san francisco… but i hail from a long line of die-hard football fans (go hawkeyes! alma mater. or go big red! nebraska girl) so now’s as good a time as any to get back into the swing of things. plus, i just acquired the most fabulous picnic basket that’s perfect to pull out come game day. even oscar reluctantly donned a bulldog tee to show his team spirit.
at some point, our kiddos plan on coming down to athens for a home game. maybe not this year as we just didn’t have our act together on coordinating a weekend when we were all free. but then, that just gives me more time to practice my tailgating skills.
any tailgate experts out there? what’s your favorite recipe? or party tips?

You two are too cute! Love the leggings – I followed the link to the Talbots pair, and they look like a terrific choice, a little heavier than most. Perfect for football weather! Enjoy…
hi karen! i think you will like the talbots leggings. ponte is a great fabric for leggings – and so forgiving.

I am no tailgating expert, but I am an expert in eating and your party for 3 looks great! (especially if thats a mimosa you are drinking!)
I love love love this outfit. So cool. Two thumbs up from ROLL TIDE country!

Big smiles–you and Oscar are quite the pair. Tailgating is good fun for sure–I love a good picnic basket! We have one that has gotten lots of use for outdoor concerts, summer night outdoor movies on the big screen at the art museum, and tailgating, etc. We even had a Crate and Barrel roll-up table that fits into in a bag, that goes together easily in a flash, like a little coffee table and we’d feast out at concerts, etc–several times, people came up to us and asked if we were caterers! hahaaaaa. We did make things like shrimp kebobs, fruit and brie with wine, mango/avocado/strawberry-salsa and chips, etc…
We also had some Crate & Barrel silver “spikes” that you could push into the ground and then at the top, they curved into a shape that held wine glasses so you could park yourself in a chair outside and have your glass at the ready. Ahhhhhh…Calgon, take me away…have fun!!
hi sweet friend!
