hey gang! another friday is upon us. as my quest for the perfect summer top wraps up on the blog, i want to close the week with a casual sleeveless tank. we’re all about friday cool this week, but this isn’t your plain ol’ casual sleeveless top… we also have a delicious soup which can be served hot or cold – perfect for these hot summer days. and a slushy-style cocktail, minus the blender! it’s all here today, on fridays with oscar.
i’ve been loving these tie waist seaside pants from J.Crew lately. so perfect for a casual day. they’re a very light cotton, and in the chambray color, they’re a great substitute for denim.
to round out summer tops week, today i have another great Anthropologie find. a colorful sleeveless tank with gorgeous embroidery. the deep saturated color you get from embroidery, versus a print really adds something special to this top.
metallic toe ring sandals from Banana Republic complete my friday cool look today. metallic sandals add panache to a casual outfit. any metallic sandal will go with everything, so they are a must-have and a go-to!
this soup is a fresh and healthy way to start a meal on a hot summer day. serve it as a starter, or have it as a main course. its bright green color is so appetizing!
Melt butter in a large heavy pot over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring often, until softened but not browned, 6–8 minutes. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 2 cups water, stir to combine, and bring to a boil. Add peas and cook, stirring occasionally, until just tender, about 2 minutes.
Remove pot from heat and stir in yogurt. Purée soup in a blender or in the pot using an immersion blender, thinning with water if soup is too thick, until smooth. Season with salt and pepper and let cool to room temperature. Transfer to a resealable container, cover, and chill at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
Divide soup among bowls and top each with a swirl of Herbed Olive Oil.
an immersion blender makes this recipe a one pot dish. but a blender will work too. you just might have to blend it in batches.
this cocktail is so light, cool and refreshing. the frozen sgroppino has the consistency of a blended cocktail without needing a blender and ice. this drink calls for lemon sorbet to get the smoothness of a blended cocktail.
mix all ingredients in a bowl, mix with a whisk until smooth. garnish with a lemon wheel
well, gang this wraps another fridays with oscar. we’re also wrapping up summer tops week on the blog. all week i featured my favorite summer tops so far this summer. we started the week my favorite summer tops. i featured a fun sequin top worn two ways. yesterday i rounded up my favorite ways to wear matching separates. stay tuned all summer as i continue my quest for the perfect summer outfits! oscar, ollie and i wish all of you a wonderful weekend.

I think you are such a good cook, Kelly. Your husband must be so happy.
Hi Cathy, thank you so much! Thankfully, he enjoys my cooking! He’s becoming quite the grill master, and we both have been learning a lot from each other in the kitchen. Thanks for stopping by! xo Kelly
Love today’s top Beth. The colors are fantastic and you are right, the embroidery adds a great dimension to the colors. Cannot wait to try the cocktail. I am a sucker for anything lemon.
I really enjoy your Frirday posts. early on, my husband and I had 2 Shepherds. We have now downsized to a Cavalir Spaniel, but I still miss the Shepherds. Have a good weekend. We are going to see our son in Atlanta, then on to NC for a week of hopefully cooler weather. Stay safe, suggest you show cute ways to mask up.
Hi Beth, Love seeing Oscar and new pup, but do miss seeing Ollie. Hope you can include her more often.
Have a great weekend.
Love the sandals. Very nice hair cut and of course Oscar is awesome!
Where is Ollie? Haven’t seen him in a while.
Must try that pea soup. Looks delicious!
As to the top…love the lines and I’m I fan of embroidery however, I’d need to be careful of where those dark embroidered )( sit on my chest. I don’t like to draw attention to my bust and wouldn’t want them hugging my breasts lol!
I like this outfit on you and I think your hair looks beautiful.
Oscar, however, looks like he has other things on his mind.
Your outfit is outstanding today! You look both comfortable and classy. I always look forward to Fridays when Oscar is there with you. Enjoy your week-end.
Love chambray! Today’s OOTD brings a breeze of cool air into our hot, Sahara-dust-filled days. Love everything today and Oscar as always! I also note Ollie holding hard to her private ways. Thanks for a great blog week. Such fun!~
You’re always making something yummy! I loved the bean salad the other day! The top you have on it so fun and cheerful! Have a great weekend!❤
Like your new, longer hairstyle. Great shoes. Nice casual outfit.
Hi Beth, how weird, you are wearing a very similar outfit as me today, you are looking very comfortable and relaxed. The recipes sound wonderful. Wishing you a lovely weekend xoxo Julie from England
That’s a nice colorful tank top for summer! Looks pretty. And your soup and drink looks cheerful for these hot days we’re currently having. I love my immersion blender and this would be a good soup to try with it. thanks! Have a relaxing, beautiful weekend! Keep cool!
I love cold soups and peas, so I’m definitely going to make soups! Love all of the recipes, they are good and easy!!
Great Friday outfit, the blouse and chambray look very comfortable and stylish!
fab posts…..love friYAYs with you and oscar…..
Beautiful soup and right up my alley, I usually won’t make a recipe with more than seven ingredients.
Oscar is the most photogenic dog. He looks so stylish. I do like the colorful top which will look great come fall with a denim jacket. The pants I’m not sure about. I’m short so I think they will make me look frumpy. They look great on you however,
Loved the entire out fit! Unfortunately the top is sold out except for XL.
I live in South Carolina it has been unbearably warm here, this looks cool and comfortable!
