Happy Friday, Gang! I’m just back from LA, where I spent the day at YouTube’s holiday shopping event, and y’all, I had an absolute ball. YouTube never disappoints — the team, the food, and oh, that swag bag! But my favorite part is always the people. It’s such fun to meet new creators and catch up with the ones I’ve known for years. I even squeezed in a little shopping and two lovely dinners out on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

As much as I love a trip, there’s truly no place like home, and this weekend I’m heading to Atlanta for some granddaughter time. Last Sunday we spent the afternoon at the park, where I got to watch my granddaughter — you’ll hear me call her Butterbean around here — navigate the slide all on her own. The forecast looks lovely, so we’re hoping for a repeat trip, and you’ll find BeBe right there at the bottom of the slide.

Then it’s time to gear up for a black-tie wedding on the Georgia coast next weekend, and you know I’ll be sharing exactly what I wear. Life is never dull, ladies! But first, if you’ve ever wondered what to wear in Los Angeles, here’s everything I actually wore on my LA trip.

What I Wore in LA

The holiday shopping conference. Remember the party pants I told you were already in the suitcase? My Jacquard Julia Pants made it to the main event. I kept everything else quiet — a Sleeveless Cashmere Turtleneck and Suede Mules — and let that gorgeous print do the talking. My new Amber and Sage Drop Earrings picked up the colors in the pants beautifully. And, ladies, these party pants are a show stopper! I can’t tell you how many compliments I received at the conference.

Tuesday night dinner. I told you last week the Lily Sweater Dress was a favorite, and it earned its spot in the suitcase. It doesn’t wrinkle, it’s comfortable for hours, and the Wisteria Kitten Heel and a sparkly Slingback Handbag take it straight to dinner.

Wednesday night dinner. If you’ve been on the fence about sequins, here’s your sign. With an Indigo Chambray Shirt and my pearls, a Sequin Skirt feels more fun than fussy. Those suede mules pulled double duty, too — that’s how you pack light.

A day of shopping. I had a little time to shop in LA, and there’s nothing like winter white under that California sun. I layered my Polo Bear Sweater over a White Button Up with my White Denim, then added a pop of red with my sandals and bag. Mine are old favorites, but I found you some lookalikes.

A coffee run. And because real life isn’t always camera-ready, here’s what I threw on for my morning coffee run — my Patrick Popover Sweatshirt, Knit Shorts, my glasses, and comfy slip-ons. Easy, comfortable, and pulled together enough to step out the door.

Travel Beauty and Coming Home

Rodan Fields Redefine skincare

My skin takes a beating when I travel, so masks have become my BFF. I pack a Face Mask and an Eye Mask, and a few minutes with both after a long flight makes all the difference. I’m also traveling with a skincare set, Redefine, and I love having my routine in one neat little bag.

Here’s my travel makeup, too, because a girl’s gotta look good for YouTube: my

I can’t sleep without a little white noise, so my Travel Sound Machine comes along on every trip, and at home I rely on my Hatch. And after a trip, it’s all about laundry. Laundry Sauce in French Saffron makes catching up feel a little less like a chore — it smells divine.

Amazon Goodies

Closing Thoughts

A day with old friends and new ones, two lovely dinners, a little shopping, a weekend at the park with Butterbean, and a wedding on the horizon — weeks like this remind me how full this chapter of life can be. And if this trip proved anything, it’s that a handful of pieces you love will carry you from a conference to dinner and back again. Enjoy your weekend, Grit & Glammers, and soak up every bit of this fall weather.

Style has no expiration date — and neither do you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear in Los Angeles in the fall?

Pack in layers. Fall days in LA are often warm and the evenings cool off, so bring a light jacket or knit you can take off, easy pants or jeans, and one or two dressier pieces for dinner.

What should a woman over 50 pack for a trip to LA?

A few pieces that mix easily: one statement pant, a sweater dress, a crisp shirt, a sparkly skirt or bag for evening, and a comfortable lounge set. One pair of mules can work with several outfits.

What do you wear to a conference over 50?

Let one piece lead. A printed pant with a quiet cashmere top looks polished without feeling overdone, and a low mule keeps you comfortable through a long day on your feet.

What should I wear to dinner in Los Angeles?

A sweater dress with pretty kitten heels, or a sequin skirt with a chambray shirt. Both feel special without being overdressed, and you can wear them again on another trip.

How do you care for your skin while traveling?

Pack a hydrating face mask and an eye mask to use after a flight, and keep your routine simple with a travel-size skincare set so you don’t skip steps on the road.
