Happy Sunday, ladies! Over the past 2 weeks, a lot of our favorite retailers---Talbots, Ann Taylor, J.McLaughlin, and more---have released new collections. Today, I'm reviewing the Talbots 2022 pre-fall collection.
I have to say, I'm liking what I'm seeing, and there are some clearly identifiable themes:
So today, I wanted to share my personal highlights. And while it's only a small fraction of what Talbots has to offer, I think I've put together a pretty good overview.
I've organized today's post into the following buckets:
You could argue a bit of a mishmash, but I think you'll see how the themes I identify above run through my buckets. So, let's get down to my review of Talbots 2022 pre-fall collection.
Today I'm reviewing the Talbots 202 pre-fall collection
I've broken down the post into 5 categories: stripes, wide-leg & cropped pants, shirtdresses, animal print, and skirts
For each item-type, I've built an inspiration outfit. I've also selected 4 items of that type I'm loving
Everything is shoppable via a text- or image-widget
I love stripes, and I love Talbots' selection of stripe tops this year. I've focused today on shirts, sweaters, and sweatshirts.
Perfect for layering under a jacket---think denim or utility---stripes are canonical Summer-to-Fall and even Fall-to-Winter wear.
Pair any of the below selections with a pair of pants or jeans and you're good to go.
Wide-leg pants are in this year and have been met with a bit of controversy. I personally love the modern silhouette and have written extensively about it.
That silhouette is subtly represented in Talbots' new collection, but it's there. So if you're looking to give a pair of wide(r)-leg pants a try, look at my picks below. Easy to dip your toe into without, say, going the full Eileen Fisher route.
Shirtdresses are in this year and are well represented in the pre-fall collection. I'm absolutely loving their modern poplin and denim shirtdresses, both linked before.
The muted olive is so fun to accessorize. I went with animal print, but don't be afraid to add color here---think reds, yellows, and oranges.
Like I said, Talbots is leaning hard into animal print this fall, especially the zebra print. My long-time followers know that I treat animal print as a neutral. They function like blacks, whites and beiges, meaning you can easily pair animal print with other neutrals or add pops of color to taste.
I love, love, love Talbots skirts. So, I had to review them here. Absolutely loving their A-Line selection, which is heavily represented here. From classic denim in multiple washes and colors to their zebra print, Talbots' new skirt selection is definitely a highlight of their pre-fall collection.

I bought the leopard print cardigan, but it was quite flimsy and almost see through, so I returned it not worth it at $119. Their quality is not always up to par.
typically, the linen cardigans are see through. but if you’re not happy with anything back it goes to the store!
Oh wow Beth those clothes are made for you! You look fabulous in everything. Talbots is one of my favorite retailers: quality holds up and the tailored style is always “in.” I appreciate what you say about animal prints acting as neutrals. I haven’t been bold in pairing them with color, but will work on it. Again, thank you for your blog….outstanding.
thanks so much for being here!
I like your exact outfits better than the boards! Does it mean that what you have on is old and no longer available, or they’re not Talbots? Love all the outfits you have on!
Great review. Love Talbot’s.
the outfits I’m wearing are from previous blog posts. We just mimic the look with style boards with items from 2022.
hope this helps!
