this is the last of my beach photos for the foreseeable future, even though this is my favorite season for beach life. this time of year, the beach turns into cable knit sweater weather with cool evenings and chilly mornings beckoning us each day. AJ and Kelly are headed to Tybee next week, but this girl is staying put in Athens for the time being. although i may drive down to Atlanta as one of my kiddos is adding a dog to his home. an English bulldog named Asher. having owned two bulldogs with Mr. Style, i am a big fan of the breed. they have oodles of personality and are happiest when allowed to be couch potatoes. exactly the opposite of German Shepherds that are on the go-go-go. which breed do i like best? both! yes, they have completely different personalities, but i highly recommend either breed for different reasons. according to studies, owning a pet is beneficial for aging adults. 40% of seniors experience loneliness associated with poor sleep, higher stress, and inflammation (a leading cause of auto-immune disease). but pets, dogs, in particular, help us stick to a routine, keep us social, and keep us active. thanks, Oscar, for those daily long walks.
fun fact. fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette inherited part of his fortune. not that she needed it as the blue-cream tortie Birman cat was a star in her own right, having made millions from modeling contracts. hear that Oscar? she even has her own Instagram page. couldn’t resist sharing a pair of sneakers that sports the late Karl Lagerfeld and Choupette.
who doesn’t love cable knit sweater weather? add a pop of animal print for good measure, and you have the recipe for a casual chic outfit that will serve you well all season long. this oversized cable knit sweater from Vince was purchased at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year. it’s just the right length to cover your assets and comes in two colors. good news, it’s on sale! it’s on the pricey side, but Vince is known for its quality. this sweater will last for years due to its traditional pattern, so i consider this an investment piece. a cable knit sweater goes with blue jeans and booties like peanut butter and jelly. today i decided to add personality with a pair of animal print jeans (old, similar here, here, and here) from Frame. ivory driving mocs (old, similar here and here) from Tory Burch add a classic touch that keeps this casual outfit grounded. but i just discovered Ali MacGraw has a shoe line. i think i like it!

Love your outfit. Especially the Vince sweater. A little too pricey for me, but I will watch for a sale. You look so carefree and relaxed in your beach photos. The beach appears to be your happy place. Looking forward to seeing photos of the new grand dog if you make it to Atlanta this weekend. Have a great week!
thanks so much for stopping by!
Cute leopard jeans. Think I am going to order since I have a white cable knit sweater very similar to this that I bought from Banana Republic last fall. Love the driving moccasins by Ali McGraw. Hum?
i have yet to buy a pair of her shoes but i’m sorely tempted. they’re so cute!
Lovely pictures, Beth! You’re gorgeous in today’s OOTD. Love the sweater, pants, everything. Keep those great OOTD coming. They truly inspire! ~
you got it, sylvia! thanks for all the love.
Hi Beth !
Love this outfit and it looks great on you too!
Would love to know your normal size of each article and your height and comments on sizes you bought and how they fit. I don’t mind spending the prices sometimes but bc I am so busy woh work and sick husband , I don’t have time to guess and send back . Would love the help in narrowing down the best fit for me. I want to duplicate this outfit!
hi christine! there is a FAQ page here where i share my sizes. https://www.styleatacertainage.com/about-beth-djalali
i encourage everyone to poke around the blog. there’s loads of information. hope this helps!
I love the beach in Autumn. So peaceful. Love that beautiful sweater and you look great in those colors.
Good luck w/the new grand puppy.
Pure breeds are great but I strongly encourage adopting 💙
And hopefully this one is.
Oscar was adopted from a shelter ,right?
all good dogs need a home whether purebred or adopted. many times adopted dogs/mutts need more assistance acclimating to a family or home and sometimes it isn’t a good fit. if that happens that poor animal gets sent back to a shelter. ugh! purebreds on the other hand have characteristics known to that breed and it’s easier to decide if those qualities will be a good fit for you or your family. bulldogs are lazy, german shepherds are active. one isn’t better than the other they just have different needs which may or may not fit into your lifestyle.
Love the way the sweater fits you, a little loose, but not sloppy. Your post is always a pick me up.
Golden Retrievers are my go to breed….they have personality plus and are medium active. If I miss a day of your blog, how do I find it on this page? Thank you!
hi janet! there is always a link at the bottom of each post that takes you to the previous day’s post. also, if you click the logo that takes you to the main page. there is also a search bar that you can utilize to search for specific items. and there is a category section that will take you to lots of posts categorized by topics.
Someone once described the benefit of having a dog, or any pet if you’re alone it that your soul senses the other heartbeat in the home and responds to that as an antidote to loneliness even if your cat seems to sleep 20+ hours a day.
I’m just a softie for all dogs and cats. I’ve had rescue dog and a pregnant cat that adopted us. We kept her and her four babies All precious. Last one now 17.
This is a great outfit. As much as I love the sweater, it’s the shoes that I love. You can’t beat a great pair of shoes.
I love this outfit and will also try to replicate. You look great!
We were avowed dog-haters until our son got an English bulldog, then adopted his littermate/brother and moved back home with us at the beginning of Covid. Would you believe now my phone is full of dog pictures? All my screensavers are “the boys”. My husband (who hated dogs more than I did) cuddles with them nightly and buys special treats? They are just pure love….with a lot of slobber and gas but just so darn cute!
Lookin’ good Beth! Love the leopard pants!
Wish I could wear wool; that sweater is so pretty.
The Ali McGraw shoes are sold out in my size. Bummer.
Love all your styling ideas. I’ll have to improvise.
The beach is my happy place. I don’t get there as often as I’d like, but when I do…it’s the best place in the world!
