When it comes to summer style, I love a dress that doesn’t make me choose between comfort and polish. The moment I tried on this dress from Loft, I knew it would be a repeat player in my warm-weather wardrobe. I actually wore it to my sister-in-law’s baby shower last weekend—styled with wedges and a wicker clutch—and got more compliments than I could count. It’s one of those rare finds that works just as well for brunch with girlfriends as it does for a casual afternoon out, and today I’m sharing how I style it three ways.
Here’s What You’ll Find in This Post:
- The versatile summer dress I’m wearing on repeat (yes, it has pockets!)
- How this dress works in a regular size, even for petites
- The wedges that elevate any daytime look without sacrificing comfort
- The clutch that goes from brunch to baby shower with ease
- Plus… a roundup of versatile summer dresses for petites
A Versatile Summer Dress You’ll Wear on Repeat
The Dress: Loft Leafed Mini Pocket Dress
This dress from Loft checks every box for me—it’s flattering, light, and works for so many summer occasions. I love the white botanical print, on the most feminine shade of pink– Milano Pink, it’s called. The bubble hem keeps things playful, while the pocket detail adds just the right amount of casual charm. It’s a piece you can throw on and instantly feel styled, whether you’re heading to brunch with friends or attending a baby shower in someone’s backyard.

The Fit
I am wearing a petite size 0. Unfortunately, the Leafed Mini Pocket Dress is only available in a few remaining petite sizes, but it’s fully stocked in regular sizes. If you’re petite and don’t like a mini dress length, a regular size can work well for you because the length will hit a little lower on your leg.
And don’t worry about the proportions being off! Because this dress is a loose bubble shape, you can use the self-tie belt to cinch at your natural waist. Plus, the straps are adjustable, so making a regular size work on your petite frame is totally doable!

The Shoes: J.Crew Crochet Espadrille Wedges
These wedge espadrilles from J.Crew have been a favorite in my summer rotation since last year. The crochet detailing gives them a breezy, handcrafted feel, while the wedge heel adds height without sacrificing comfort. They strike that perfect balance between casual and elevated, making them a smart choice for a variety of summer events.

If you’re walking on grass (hello, outdoor shower or garden party), wedges are your best friend—no heels sinking into the lawn!

The Bag: Mark & Graham Wicker and Leather Clutch

Nothing says summer quite like a woven accessory, and this wicker and leather clutch from Mark & Graham delivers big on texture and sophistication. I love how it adds structure to the look without feeling heavy. It’s small enough for easy carrying, but roomy enough for your daytime essentials—sunglasses, lip balm, and a cardholder all fit with ease.
