And just like that, we went from cashmere sweaters and jeans to linen tops and shorts. And what’s more summery than a Matching Set for the Win?! Honestly, I love to wear winter and summer fashion, although I’m always ready to transition from season to season. Years ago, I lived in Houston, TX where there were only two seasons: hot and less hot. That first year I kept wondering when it would cool down enough to wear fall fashion. I grew up with four distinct seasons and let the weather dictate my fashion choices. By late October I was still waiting for cooler weather that never really came.
The following year I knew that the seasons wouldn’t change so my summer clothing would have to do the heavy lifting. Even though I love pink I somehow love it more in the hot summer months. Come fall I’m ready for greens, blues, and burgundies that mimic the vibrant colors of the trees before they go dormant for the winter. So that’s what I did, I chose shorts and skirts, and tees in muted color schemes that reflected fall colors.
Now I’m back in Georgia with four distinct seasons, although our winters are quite short and our summers are long. So it’s hello summer goodbye spring! The good news is that we haven’t hit ninety degrees yet. I’ll take it! Although the temps have been lurking in the eighties which is A-Okay with me. I know I’m a bit obsessed with the weather but that’s what living in the Midwest will do to you. One thing’s for certain, the weather can change on a dime in the Midwest. Even the nightly news had a lengthy segment with a meteorologist describing the high pressure headed our way.

Rick rac! Back in the day I used to make myself simple a-line shift dresses (anyone remember those?😉) and loved to trim them with rick rac. The navy outfit is adorable.😊
I did the same!
I always had a ric rac something or other as a child. Still love it!
Cute, but short shorts like this simply do not look good “at a certain age”.
Well, I’ve said it before and it bears repeating, clothes have sizes not ages. If you prefer a different length then by all means choose the length that you feel confident wearing. But style is always about personal preference.
OMGosh Beth…That matching short outfit is adorable on you!!!! Would you say it’s true to size? And I’m loving the pink tote…so pretty…I’m surprised you didn’t get that one as I’m sure you already have a neutral tote..haha Keep up the awesome blog/newsletter etc…you’re fabulous!!
It’s getting late in the day but just had to comment on today’s post. That outfit is very nice on you and like other responders I fondly remember bric a brac as well from my childhood. Also, I don’t mind at all that you mention the weather you’re having . I happen to be always interested in what the weather is like somewhere else since I’m in the northeast. Keep doing what you do!
Nobody does shorts like you. Navy and White! Matching Set! Ric Rac! sigh – I’ve loved it since I learned to sew in junior high. The sandals, straw bag and gorgeous earrings are perfect accents. This adorable outfit makes me smile ear to ear.
