Guest Room Nursery Ideas for Grandmotherhood
Becoming BeBe: A New Chapter
When I chose the name BeBe, it felt playful, chic, and just right. Guest room nursery ideas for grandmotherhood became more than a Pinterest search—it became a personal project. Preparing for grandmotherhood has been one of the most exciting seasons of my life, and it’s meant looking at our home with fresh eyes. I wanted a space where the grandbabies could nap and play, and where their parents could rest, too. The solution was creating a guest room nursery combo—a space that’s stylish, functional, and welcoming for everyone.

- Denim Button Up
- Navy Tee
- White Shorts
- Web Belt
The room has morphed, but this was the first rendition. I added artwork and a diaper caddy. Roman Shades have been ordered. Funny story. Before I hung the shelves, the stuffed animals were on the floor. Guess who decided to snag one for his own. Yep! That rascal who goes by Oscar.

Why a Guest Room Nursery Makes Sense
If you’ve ever had grandkiddos spend the night, you know the scramble—clearing corners, borrowing a crib, improvising a changing table. A guest nursery eliminates that stress.
- Babies enjoy a calm, quiet environment.
- Parents have a comfortable retreat.
- Guests still feel welcome when little ones aren’t visiting.
Designing a guest room nursery combination keeps the home practical, stylish, and ready for family.

The plaid bedding is no longer available, but it’s from my all-time favorite designer, Ralph Lauren.
Rocking Through the Generations
The first non-negotiable for me? A rocker. I rocked all three of my boys when they were babies, and now I’ll rock my grandchildren, too. There’s something timeless about that ritual—the soothing rhythm, the closeness, the connection across generations.
Guest Room Nursery Touches That Matter
When layering the space, I wanted subtle nursery elements that complemented a grown-up guest room. Here’s what I added:
A Bassinet and Changing Station
Compact, practical, and tucked neatly into the corner.

Stuffed Animals and Whimsy
A plush fox nursery rocker, teddy bears, and soft mobiles add playfulness without clutter.

I love Mary Meyer stuffed animals available at Amazon.
Shelves with Story
Classic children’s books (Madeline, Olivia, The Very Hungry Caterpillar) sit alongside framed watercolor art.

Art and Textures
Soft watercolor prints, cozy blankets, and woven baskets create warmth and style.
I fell in love with this 4-pack nursery artwork from Amazon! I purchased the 4-pack oak frames separately, but altogether this set was a fraction of the cost of the Minted artwork.

A Guest Bed That’s Still Chic
The guest bed remains a focal point, and it deserved a look that felt pulled together. I chose a preppy plaid quilt topped with Kelly green Euro shams from Ralph Lauren. Surprised? I love Ralph not only for their clothes but also for their home goods. Ralph Lauren bedding still nails timeless, stylish comfort.
The combination strikes the perfect balance: chic enough for adult guests, but playful enough to tie in with nursery details.

Absolutely love how this room turned out! Can’t wait for the Roman Shades.
Comfort for Parents Too
Preparing for grandmotherhood means keeping parents in mind as much as babies. I wanted the guest nursery to feel like a retreat for them:
- Fresh, neutral bedding for rest
- A rocker for late-night feeds
- A welcome basket with snacks and toiletries
- Layered lighting for cozy evenings
These thoughtful touches elevate the room from “guest space” to “haven.”
Nightstand with room for phones, cords, etc…

The Finishing Touch: Roman Shades
Within the next week or two, new Roman shades with navy trim and room-darkening lining will be installed. This detail matters because babies nap better in dark, quiet rooms, and parents do too.
Roman shades add:
- Style – clean, timeless lines
- Function – room-darkening fabric for restful sleep
- Flexibility – equally practical for babies and adult guests
It’s the small detail that will complete the room beautifully.
BeBe Style: Comfortable, Chic, and Durable
Preparing for grandmotherhood isn’t just about creating a nursery—it’s also about embracing a new role with your own sense of style. My BeBe style is grounded in pieces that are comfortable, chic, and durable.
That’s why Frank & Eileen is my go-to brand, with Varley and Spanx a close second. Their fabrics are buttery soft, their designs timeless, and most importantly—they can take a beating and stand up to it. Babies spit up, toddlers climb, life gets messy, but Frank & Eileen pieces come out looking just as polished as when you put them on.
It’s the same philosophy I used for the guest nursery: create something stylish yet practical, comfortable yet lasting, beautiful enough to enjoy but durable enough to live in.

Beth’s Style Tip
When designing a guest room nursery combo, keep your large furniture pieces neutral and timeless. Then layer in baby-friendly accents—like books, toys, and art—that can easily evolve as the grandchildren grow.
Closing Thoughts
Preparing for grandmotherhood is about more than stocking up on baby gear. It’s about creating spaces where love and memories will grow, rocking babies to sleep, telling bedtime stories, and tucking little ones under a plaid quilt.
A guest room nursery combination makes visits easier, more joyful, and more stylish. It’s a space that reflects my Bebe style: comfortable, chic, and built to last. Because being Bebe isn’t about slowing down—it’s about showing up with love, warmth, and a little grit and glam. And if you’d like another reflection from my Life Beyond Style series, take a look at Carrying Grief with Grace—a reminder that our second acts are about honoring the past while embracing the future.

Hello, a guest room and nursery combo makes a lot of sense. Where did you buy the night table? It’s beautiful and practical. Thanks.
The nightstand is several years old from Ballard Designs. Thanks for stopping by!
The nursery/guest room is so warm and inviting. Good job, Bebe!

I don’t comment often but you are one of my favorite blogs. Love, love, love everything you post.
The nursery/guest room is perfect. I’d love to see more of your house!
Haha glad Oscar claimed his toy!
You made my day, Carolyn! Thank you! Stay tuned for our house tour!
Hi Beth – so happy you achieved BeBe status. That is a beautiful picture with your new granddaughter. I’m GiGi to 10 yr, 9 yr and 5 mos granddaughters- I watch the baby while the parents work and the older 2 I drop off and pick up from school. I love this season of life. I just adore your guest room- so sweet and special bonding chair. The tiny fuzzy baby rocker is so cute and all the cuddle stuffies. You created a wonderful space for your guests.
Isn’t grandmother the best job?! I’m certain you are loving every minute! Thanks for stopping by!
Please share pictures of the Roman shades. I am getting closer to replacing/updating my window treatments and am excited to see what you picked. I have 4 windows across the front of my house that I want to look the same from the outside but I’m anxious to see how yours look from “the room” view!
Stay tuned! They should be here next week!
You’ve done a wonderful job Beth at decorating the guest room/ nursery! You’re all set for Olivia’s visit.
Thank you! Although if you ask Oscar, it’s neither a guest room nor a nursery. It’s his room!
Love this guest bedroom/nursery combo! I hope to be a grandmother in the next few years, and these are great ideas – thanks!
