sweater dressing is a dream to wear. i still remember a favorite of mine from about twenty years ago. it was an adrienne vittadini knife pleat skirt and matching long cardigan in poppy red. the cardi had brass buttons painted in blue and i paired it with a yellow vee neck silk blouse with matching orange/red suede shoes. i loved to wear this outfit on sunday as we marched off to church with our three young boys in tow. their hair slicked over to one side, plaid button-down shirts and khaki pants. they were always up to their usual shenanigans sitting side-by-side in the pew. one of their favorites was to slip notes to each other with prose harry potter style. “dear mr. djalali, i’m pleased to inform you…isn’t it funny how an outfit can capture a moment in time? today’s ootd is a sweater ensemble that i couldn’t resist. what drew me in was the graphic black and white print that’s easy on the eyes, but oh so sixtiesish. a red clutch and pointy-toed shoes are the perfect accessories, but i think the oversized necklace just might steal the show.

EDUCATE ME……………what does ootd mean?
i see sandra beat me to the answer! it seems the fashion world decided to slap an acronym to just about everything: wiw = what i wore. who knew there was so much to learn?!

Honestly Contesssa. OOTD mean “Outfit of the day.” You’re such a pro I thought you’d know that. How goreous is this outfitl? I love the story about your boys passing Harry Potter notes. Makes the story so much more than clothing!
memories and outfits have co-existed in my head for decades! i take after my mother in this regard.

hey jodie,
can’t wait to see your series on matching sets! this sweater and skirt are not only affordable, and adorable, but super comfy as well. that’s a dream team for me.
Great outfit!
And I love how a certain outfit can bring back memories from long ago, just like food or certain smells can… 🙂
memories are so fun to conjure up. and you’re absolutely right about smells. sometimes it only takes a whiff of a fragrance and certain people pop into my head.

I know just what you mean about certain outfits marking a time in our lives, helping to create memories.. Adrienne Vittadini was one of my favorite designers in the 80s. I adore your outfit. I’m on the hunt for a similar sweater in navy/off-white. Love your hair!
hi stephanie,
thanks, for stopping by! clothes have always created moments in time for me. i’m happy to hear i’m not the only one. this skirt and sweater are also quite comfortable to wear. good luck with your shopping expedition!
