can you believe labor day weekend is fast approaching? it’s t minus nine days and counting. where has the summer gone, gang? and while i’m soaking up every minute of summer it’s time to think about fall. and my favorite season for fashion. while we’re not ready to don cashmere sweaters or knee-high boots any time soon we’ll need a few transitional outfits to ease us into september. so why not reach for classic strips and chinos to brighten our style game while we’re at it?
i don’t know about you but i have about twenty stripe tees folded in my drawer. maybe more. mr. style could never quite figure out why i thought i needed one more to add to my collection… but one of my favorite tees happens to be a boatneck stripe. today’s stripe tee is from J.Crew my go-to store for stripes. and this iconic tee comes in not only navy but six other colors. a favorite way to wear classic stripes is with a pair of chinos. this pair is from Talbots. another go-to store for the classics. it’s a casual outfit through and through that’s fit for a stroll in the park or a sandy beach when the temps cool down a tad.
classic stripes and chinos look fabulous paired with comfy footwear. why not add a pair of slip-on sneakers with a little bling?

and don’t forget to accessorize classic stripes and chinos with a casual handbag like a tote (old, similar here) in a neutral color.

classic stripes and chinos look perfect when worn together. but don’t forget how versatile each item is. separates can be mixed and matched with other pieces in your wardrobe to come up with endless outfits.
happy hump day, ladies! it’s time to go put a smile on someone’s face, including your own.

Beth, thanks for the reminder that I needed to replace the striped tops that I had to let go due to wear. Used your link to JCrew. I also ordered a pair of curvy denim to try–backordered but won’t need them until they come in early September anyway.
Beth, I love this look! Comfortable, dressy casual. You look so pretty!
Always put together and beautiful! 🙏🏻 Always with you
Thank you for showing what to wear with chino pants. I have a pair and always seem to fall into only wearing them with a solid top. I love it when you show how to fashion jeans as well. This is an outfit I can put together right now, and yet had never thought to put them together…
Hi Beth
Great casual look today. I, too, love stripes, and have a few in my wardrobe. I love the stripes with the khakis. Junior Style continues to capture your essence and the locations you choose are beautiful. Prayers and peace, comfort, joy yo you and your family.
I meant to you
Love this Beth! I am the same way about stripes. I’ve stopped counting the number of striped shirts I have; short sleeve, 3/4 length, long sleeve it doesn’t matter. I’m a preppy dresser through and through and the stripes and chinos are right up my alley. No cardigan yet as the feel-like temp today is around 110 and humidity is high. Love your outfit!
I just had to reply to today’s outfit post and your love of striped tees. My everyday “uniform” almost always has some iteration of a stripe in there –so much so that my friends all groan when they see me eyeing up a striped piece in a store! There’s always room for one more navy/white striped tee in the pile! I love the clean, crisp look that is seasonless and never looks dated. Thanks for being a supporter!! ON another note, I love it when you comment on something Mr. Style said or did. It keeps his spirit so much with us as we share your daily post. But we are getting to know Style Jr., too!
Snappy outfit! I can’t seem to get enough stripes either!
I just saw a family of four out today with matching sand chinos and the same striped T-shirt. They vould have bern on a TV commercial for the G**. Their friend was wearing a wider striped T-shirt and chinos. I figured they were on their way to a public attraction like the zoo, and wanted to keep track of the kids. Anyways, they were happy in this classic look.
Looking good! Thanks for the idea. I love stripes!
Hi Beth,
I just love your style. Also, I am enjoying the daily video. I do wish you would show back views of your outfit in the video too. Not only would I get a back view of the outfit your wearing but also a view of your pretty hair.
Polished. casual!! Perfect!!
Stripes are essential. Looks casual and comfy. I smiled seeing this, as I just saw a photo shot from behind, with the headline “Genetics in action,” –it profiled a man, wearing a vertical striped top, a woman in horizontal stripes, and they were holding hands with a tiny child wearing plaid. Classic. I’ll have to pull out my chinos–I have been in skirts, dresses and shorts in this heat, and all my pants are sitting here…
