I live in Florida and wear shorts all of the time. It’s too hot not to. I really like how you’ve shown how to dress up shorts or keep them casual as well.

I wear shorts almost daily living in southwest Florida so I appreciate your postings on shorts. However, for a “city short” or a short that I would wear to lunch, I think a mid-thigh look is most appropriate. For my 5’ 4” self, it’s a 7-inch short for me. Ralph Lauren makes some 6-inch linen drawstring shorts that are nice.

    Good Morning Beth!
Lucky Kelly is cute, petite and has beautiful legs. Me, not so lucky. So the shorter shorts are relegated to gardening around the house for me. I do love longer shorts and skorts and there is a huge variety of both.
Your post yesterday about grief hit home. I recently lost a very good friend to lung cancer (not a smoker). It was 4 and half weeks between when she was diagnosed and passed. Her hubby is beyond grieving. We touch base every few days to support him. It can happen!!!

I think if we all looked as good in shorts as Kelly does, we would all wear them! I lived in shorts as a kid, and. loved them. My parents argued about my sister and I wearing shorts all the time. My Mom was team shorts and my Dad didn’t like them. Skorts were really popular then, and my Dad liked them, but my Mom hated them. If you think my parents liked to disagree, you would be correct. These days. I wear mine for yard
work and around the house.. The city shorts are really cute, and if I were going out to lunch or shopping, I would wear them. I think shorts are nice this time of year, especially when it’s hot and humid. I think they are appropriate for almost any occasion, except church. I have seen that more than once.

I love all your posts on shorts. You’ve always said “you do you”. I’m newly dating at 67 and starting to go to some warmer places out of the country and need more shorts. I’m in Baja California Sur (The tip of Mexico) and it will be shorts/skorts, summer dresses everyday while we are here. Your posts are always so appropriate. I’ve bought many items over the years on your recommendation. Thanks, Melanie

The reason I don’t wear shorts is that my legs don’t look good! We’re talking brown sun-age spots, varicose veins, and more flab than I would like. For those who have great legs, you should definitely rock a pair of shorts! But please understand, some of us have leg issues and don’t want to put them on display.

    • Hi Janet, I totally understand! If wearing a certain thing makes one feel uncomfortable, it’s not fun to wear. And we believe fashion should be fun! Thanks so much for stopping by today, xo Kelly

The reason I don’t like shorts and I’m sure I’m not the only one is varicose veins and celllulite. I wear dresses.

There are shorts and there are shorts (and you can quote me on that). I agree, after a ‘certain age’, really short shorts look like you’re in denial, no matter how good your legs may be. At the same time, if your legs are your best feature it’s possible to wear stylish and flattering shorts that aren’t *too* covered up. It’s a matter of finding the right look.

I’m with you ,Kelly. I just adore shorts once the temperature hits above 70 here in the northeast I enjoy them so much. I’ve tried wearing lightweight summer dresses too but they just aren’t for me. I’m a shorts girl. I’ve got everything from understated denim to the tailored chinos.

  10. I am 75 petite, live in Florida with a very hot climate.
I do wear shorts, but I prefer the above knee.
Love the contrast of stripes with neutral, I wear a lot of neutrals.
That is why I love Kelly’s outfits.

    • Hi Gloria, Stripes are one of the most fun patterns to wear, in my opinion. You can really have a lot of fun mixing them into all kinds of outfits! Thanks so much, Gloria. xo Kelly
